Glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis is the most common secondary cause of osteoporosis and the resulting fractures cause significant morbidity. Oral bisphosphonates are currently regarded as first line options on the grounds of their low cost. However, teriparatide has been shown to be superior in its effects on bone mineral density and vertebral fracture risk in glucocorticoid-treated individuals with osteoporosis. We conducted a protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the effectiveness of alendronate and teriparatide in patients with glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis. ⋯ The conclusion of our systematic review will provide evidence to judge whether teriparatide is an effective intervention for patients with glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis.

Randomized Controlled Trial
A single-center randomized controlled study of intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemoperfusion in combination of recombinant human tumor necrosis factor (TNF) in treatment of malignant ascites caused by advanced abdominal cancers.
Malignant peritoneal effusion is a common complication of advanced malignancies, which has a poor prognosis for patients. Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) has been widely used in the treatment of advanced gynecological tumors, especially ovarian cancer (OC). Relative studies have indicated that HIPEC allows for direct exposure of tumor cells to high peritoneal concentrations of cytotoxic drugs without increasing systemic toxicity compared with intravenous treatment. Recombinant human tumor necrosis factor for injection (rmhTNF-NC) is a safely tolerated immunotherapeutic drug that has becoming a mainstay of treatment for malignant effusions. Currently, a prospective study is required to determining the efficacy of rmhTNF-NC plus cisplatin for the treatment of malignant peritoneal effusion for OC. ⋯ This trial will determine the effectiveness of HIPEC with cisplatin and intraperitoneal perfusion with rmhTNF-NC for advanced gynecologic cancers, and guide the optimal treatment for these patients.

Encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis (EPS), also known as abdominal cocoon syndrome, is an uncommon condition that typically presents with features of bowel obstruction. EPS followed by cesarean section is extremely rare. Intestinal obstruction caused by EPS lacks specificity and poses clinical difficulties for diagnosis and treatment. We present the case of a patient with recurrent intestinal obstruction followed by cesarean section, and the diagnosis of EPS was confirmed intraoperatively. The patient recovered well postoperatively, and achieved satisfactory therapeutic results. Management of this condition tests the surgeon's knowledge and experience of the disease. ⋯ After cesarean section could develop EPS. Intestinal obstruction caused by EPS lacks specificity and poses clinical difficulty in diagnosis and treatment. The management of this condition tests the surgeon's knowledge and experience, and surgery is an effective treatment measure.

Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic recurrent gastrointestinal disorder with a high incidence of inflammation due to intestinal inflammation. Acupuncture is commonly used as an alternative therapy for patients with CD. The aim of this study was to design a systematic review and meta-analysis protocol, to provide guidance for the establishment of systematic evaluation and meta-analysis on the efficacy and safety of acupuncture on CD. ⋯ This protocol outlines the planned scope and methodology of a forthcoming systematic review and meta-analysis to provide guidelines for a rigorous assessment of the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for the treatment of CD.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common liver disease worldwide. Owing to the complexity of NAFLD pathogenesis, there is still no specific medication for NAFLD that is safe and effective. Yinchenwuling Powder (YCWLP), a classic Chinese formula, has been widely applied to NAFLD and its efficacy has been proven in numerous studies. However, systematic evaluation of the efficacy and safety of YCWLP for NAFLD is still lacking. ⋯ The efficacy and safety of YCWLP in treating NAFLD will be proved, providing feasible and effective clinical recommendations for the treatment of NAFLD.
