Patients with traumatic carotid-cavernous fistula (TCCF) usually go to the ophthalmology department first because of the symptoms such as protrusion of eyes, edema and congestion of combined membrane, vision loss and so on. It is easy to be misdiagnosed and missed. ⋯ Interventional treatment of TCCF is effective.

Randomized Controlled Trial
The efficacy of modified HuangLian JieDu decoction for early enteral nutrition in patients with sepsis: A randomized controlled study.
This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of modified HuangLian JieDu decoction (MHLJDD) as a supplementary medication for early enteral nutrition in septic patients. ⋯ MHLJDD can shorten the MV and ICU stay of septic patients.

Uterine fibroids are common benign tumors in premenopausal women. Surgery is the preferred treatment for symptomatic uterine fibroids. An alternative of hysterectomy to manage symptomatic uterine fibroids is selective uterine artery embolization. We performed a protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the effectiveness of uterine artery embolization for treating symptomatic uterine fibroids compared with hysterectomy. ⋯ This systematic review will provide high quality evidence to judge whether uterine artery embolization is an effective surgical method for patients with symptomatic uterine fibroids.

Observational Study
Differential effects of hyperhomocysteinemia on the lipid profiles and lipid ratios between patients with and without coronary artery disease: A retrospective observational study.
This study aimed to investigate the differential effects of hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) on lipid profiles and lipid ratios between patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and without CAD. The data of 872 CAD patients and 774 non-CAD controls were extracted from the information system of hospitalized patients. Serum homocysteine (Hcy), total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TGs), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), apolipoprotein (Apo) AI, and ApoB concentrations were detected. ⋯ CAD patients with HHcy had a higher ratio of TC/HDL-C (P = .022) and LDL/HDL-C (P = .045) than those of patients with normal Hcy, but in the controls, the subjects with HHcy exhibited a trend toward a decreased ratio of TC/HDL-C (P = .481) and LDL/HDL-C (P = .303). There were differential effects of HHcy on the lipid ratios between CAD and non-CAD patients. HHcy was related to higher ratios of TC/HDL-C and LDL/HDL-C in patients with CAD.

Adrenal insufficiency (AI) is a relatively rare disease. While the adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) stimulation test remains as one of the commonly used diagnostic test for AI, to date there is no consensus on the cortisol cutoff value post-ACTH stimulation test. This study aimed to investigate and characterize the cortisol response after the standard ACTH stimulation test in a group of Saudi Arabian patients. ⋯ Patients with AI present with mostly nonspecific symptoms, with type 1 diabetes as the most common comorbidity. The cortisol level cutoffs obtained from Arab patients who underwent ACTH stimulation tests showed wide variability for its utility in AI diagnosis. Further studies to evaluate the optimal cortisol cutoff values for AI diagnosis in this population are needed.
