Misdiagnosis of hepatic cystic echinococcosis complicated with hepatocellular carcinoma: A case report.
Hepatic cystic echinococcosis (CE) is a common zoonotic parasitic disease caused by the entry of Echinococcus granulosus eggs into human body. Surgical resection is the optimal treatment choice for hepatic CE. However, Coexistence of CE and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have been reported with a rare incidence rate, which led to unsatisfactory prognosis after the operation. ⋯ May improve the clinicians' understanding of CE complicated with HCC, and reduce the misdiagnosis of similar case, as well as provide guidance for clinical treatment.

Appropriate surveillance and treatment of Barrett's esophagus (BE) is vital to prevent disease progression and decrease esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC)-related mortality. We sought to determine the variation in BE care and identify improvement opportunities. 275 physicians (113 general gastroenterologists, 128 interventional gastroenterologists, 34 gastrointestinal surgeons) cared for 3 simulated patients, one each from 3 BE clinical scenarios: non-dysplastic BE (NDBE), BE indefinite for dysplasia (IND), and BE with low grade dysplasia (LGD), and care scores were measured against societal guidelines. Overall quality-of-care scores ranged from 17% to 85% with mean of 47.9% ± 11.8% for NDBE, 50.8% ± 11.7% for IND, and 52.7% ± 12.2% for LGD. ⋯ Overall care of patients diagnosed with BE varied widely and showed room for improvement. Specific opportunities for improvement were adherence to guideline recommended surveillance intervals, patient counseling, and treatment selection for LGD. Physicians would potentially benefit from additional BE education, endoscopic advances, and better methods for risk stratification.

This cross-sectional study examines the association between hyperuricemia and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Data from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study from 2004 to 2016 were analyzed. Among the 173,209 participants, we selected 11,453 patients with hyperuricemia and 152,255 controls (non-hyperuricemia). ⋯ The aOR of hyperuricemia for IHD was 1.45 (95% confidence interval = 1.33-1.59, P < .001). In the subgroup analyses, the results were similar, except in young men. Hyperuricemia was significantly associated with CVD in the Korean population.

Multiple recurrent aneurysms with angiitis of the central nervous system in a girl: A case report.
Primary central nervous system (CNS) vasculitis is a rare immune inflammatory disease confined to the blood vessels of the brain and spinal cord. The total number reported in the world is about 500[1]. Most are negative in cerebral angiography or vascular stenosis and only 1 case of aortic aneurysms reported. ⋯ Subarachnoid hemorrhage after acute cerebral infarction is rare. In addition, the patient had recurrent aneurysms after the first aneurysm clipping, which emphasized the importance of postoperative drug therapy and blood pressure control.

The diagnosis of lymphoma in routine diagnostics can be challenging due to clinical, morphological and immunphenotypical overlap with unusual reactive processes termed "pseudolymphomas." ⋯ This case report adds the parafollicular activation and proliferation of blasts and plasmablasts in the drainage area of an active infection to the spectrum of "pseudolymphomas" and reiterizes the importance of placing histopathological findings in the proper context.
