Excess Cu can cause cell death as a cofactor for essential enzymes. The relationship between cuproptosis-associated genes (CAGs) and breast cancer (BR) is not completely investigated. Here, the transcriptome expression and mutation profile data of BR samples from the Cancer Genome Atlas database were retrieved to identify CAGs. ⋯ Furthermore, high-risk BR patients had higher TMB, lower immune checkpoint expression, higher m6A gene expression, and higher tumor stemness. Finally, the immunophenoscore analysis revealed that the risk signature could potentially predict the immune response in BR and help guide the application of various immunotherapeutic drugs. Overall, the newly constructed CAGs risk signature presented a predictive value for the prognosis and tumor microenvironment of BR patients and can be further used in the guidance of immunotherapy for BR.

High-risk prostate cancer can take advantage of the combination of hypofractionated radiotherapy and pelvic conventional fraction radiotherapy. The comparison between fixed field dynamic IMRT and VMAT techniques can provide suggestions for clinical treatment. We selected 10 high-risk prostate cancer patients who received radiotherapy at the cancer center of Sun Yat-sen University from January 2016 to December 2019. ⋯ Compared with IMRT, VMAT improved delivery efficiency noticeably. Two arcs provided comparable tumor dosimetry coverage, but performed worse in dose sparing for bladder, rectum and small bowel. The IMRT plan was preferable to VMAT in prostate cancer simultaneous integrated boost radiotherapy.

The cyclic GMP-AMP synthase-stimulator of the interferon genes (cGAS-STING) pathway is essential in inflammation-driven tumor occurrence and progression. However, the prognostic roles and immune functions of cGAS-STING pathway-related genes in patients with prostate adenocarcinoma (PRAD) remain unclear. cGAS-STING pathway-related genes were obtained from the gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) website. Univariate Cox regression analysis was performed to screen the prognosis-related hub genes in the cancer genome atlas (TCGA) and GSE116918 datasets. ⋯ Notably, the CPRS can differentiate responsive patients from non-responsive individuals treated with PD-L1 blockades in an independent cohort. In addition, higher CPRS was associated with a more favorable prognosis. The proposed risk model was developed based on 6 cGAS-STING pathway related-genes, which can be used as a promising predictor for patient survival and immunotherapeutic responses in PRAD, contributing to treatment strategy-related decision-making.

The purpose of this study was to describe the epidemiology of patients presenting with acute burns and undergoing admission at Hospital Nacional Guido Valadares (HNGV) in Dili, Timor-Leste in the period 2013 to 2019. HNGV is the only tertiary referral hospital in Timor-Leste. This was a retrospective study involving all acute burn patients admitted to the surgical wards of HNGV from 2013 to 2019. ⋯ Higher TBSA, full thickness burns, and flame burns were also significantly associated with longer LOS and higher mortality. Children and male patients were disproportionately overrepresented among patients admitted to HNGV, while female patients had longer LOS and older adults had more severe injury and a higher risk of mortality. Establishment of a national program for the prevention of burns is essential.

Endoscopic submucosal dissection for papillary early gastric carcinoma: Insights from a large-scale analysis of post-gastrectomy pathology specimens.
Gastric papillary adenocarcinoma is considered a differentiated adenocarcinoma in the current endoscopic submucosal dissection indication guidelines. However, the safety of endoscopic submucosal dissection remains controversial. Currently, data regarding which papillary early gastric cancer should be considered for endoscopic submucosal dissection are unavailable. ⋯ In multivariate analysis, non-mixed-type papillary early gastric cancer showed marginally increased odds of lymph node metastasis than differentiated early gastric cancer (odds ratio [OR]: 2.5, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.0-6.3). Rates of lymph node metastasis (1/10, 10%) and angiolymphatic invasion (2/10, 20%) for papillary early gastric cancer meeting expanded criteria were higher than those for other histology types meeting endoscopic submucosal dissection absolute or expanded criteria (P = .03 and P < .001, respectively). Endoscopic submucosal dissection should be considered carefully for papillary early gastric cancer, especially if it meets expanded endoscopic submucosal dissection indications since it is associated with high rates of submucosal invasion and lymph node metastasis.
