This study aimed to develop a DNA methylation-based nomogram for predicting biochemical recurrence in patients with prostate cancer. A DNA methylation signature was obtained via univariate, lasso, and stepwise multivariate Cox regression models. ⋯ A nomogram was constructed based on the 11-DNA methylation signature and Gleason score, and C-index as well as the calibration plots demonstrated good performance and clinical application of the nomogram. A DNA methylation-associated nomogram serve as a prognosis stratification tool to predict the biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer patients after radical prostatectomy.

Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is a common complication of chronic kidney disease. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a safe and minimally invasive treatment for SHPT, which can effectively reduce the level of parathyroid hormone (PTH). Inferior thyroid artery (ITA) is a rare and dangerous complication, We report two cases of ITA bleeding caused by RFA. Intraoperative contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) can accurately show the source and scope of bleeding. Ultrasound guided RFA and compression hemostasis were successful. ⋯ Although RFA is a safe and minimally invasive treatment for secondary hyperparathyroidism, rupture and bleeding of the ITA are rare and dangerous. CEUS can quickly and accurately judge bleeding, bleeding range and location in the early stage. Ultrasound guided compression and RFA of small ITA bleeding points can timely and effectively control bleeding, limit the bleeding range to pseudoaneurysms, and close themselves.

In epidemiological research, the link between coffee consumption and bone mineral density (BMD) is still debated. Moreover, there hasn't been any research on the relationship between urine caffeine and caffeine metabolites and BMD. This study aimed to investigate if there was a connection between urine caffeine and its metabolites and BMD in people between the ages of 8 and 19. ⋯ In our study, an inverted U-shaped association between urinary paraxanthine and urinary caffeine was found with BMD in women. In this cross-sectional study, the correlation between urinary caffeine and its metabolites and total BMD differed by sex and race. More studies are needed to confirm the results of this study and to investigate the underlying causes.

Aicardi syndrome is a genetic malformation syndrome with a triad of dysgenesis or agenesis of the corpus callosum, distinctive chorioretinal lacunae and infantile spasms. It is a rare developmental disorder first described in 1965. The disease affects 1 in 100,000 live births. ⋯ Children with congenital central nervous system malformations should undergo regular ophthalmic checkups to facilitate diagnosis and determine prognosis of visual function development.

The aim is to investigate the usefulness of 177Lu-DOTA-0-Tyr3-Octreotate (DOTATATE) healthy organs' (spleen, kidneys, bone marrow) standard uptake value for the prediction of subacute hematological toxicity in patients undergoing 177Lu-DOTATATE treatment. All patients referred from January 2021 to May 2022 for 177Lu-DOTATATE treatment were retrospectively screened. For each treatment session, baseline clinical data including age, sex, weight, delay between 177Lu-DOTATATE treatment and last cold somatostatin analogue intake were collected. ⋯ Using an optimal threshold of ≥6.22, derived sensitivity and specificity to predict hemoglobin decrease were 85.7% [46.4; 99.0] and 76.9% [57.5; 89.2] respectively with an accuracy of 82.4%. Although not significantly predictive of hematological toxicity, bone marrow SUVmean and renal SUVmean were correlated with splenic SUVmean. Quantitative single photon emission computed tomography and healthy organs analysis might help to foresee hematological subacute toxicity in patients undergoing 177Lu-DOTATATE treatment and improve patient management.
