Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common type of kidney cancer and is the second most common urologic neoplasm. Vaginal metastasis from RCC is extremely rare clinically. ⋯ In cases of vaginal bleeding, the possibility of metastatic renal cell carcinoma should be considered. Percutaneous transcatheter arterial embolization is an effective and novel treatment for uncontrollable vaginal bleeding caused by vaginal metastasis of RCC.

The trisomy of human chromosome 21 causes Down syndrome (DS), sometimes known as congenital folly's syndrome. The survivors show apparent mental impairment, unusual facial traits, growth and development abnormalities, and various deformities, with 60 percent of the infants having miscarriages in the early stages of the fetus. Plasma micRNA (miRNA) is a new diagnostic biomarker for DS; however, its significance in first-trimester maternal plasma is unknown. As a result, the purpose of this study is to assess the diagnostic significance of the biomarker miRNA in first-trimester maternal plasma for DS. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/R49FT.

Unilateral pachydermodactyly misdiagnosed as juvenile idiopathic arthritis: A case report.
Pachydermodactyly is a rare, benign disease that can manifest in healthy adolescent boys as painless, spindle-shaped, soft-tissue swelling of the proximal interphalangeal joints in the hand. It is usually bilateral, with symmetrical joint enlargement. There are relatively few documented cases of pachydermodactyly worldwide, signifying either a low incidence or lack of recognition by physicians; therefore, its diagnosis is challenging. ⋯ Pachydermodactyly should be considered in the differential diagnosis of painless swelling in adolescent men with normal blood testing. Early recognition of this rare benign condition helps physicians appropriately reassure the patient and his parents without exposing them to unnecessary therapy.

Gender differences in motor and non-motor symptoms in Parkinson disease (PD) are still controversial. This study aimed to investigate gender differences in clinical characteristics in patients with early PD. This study included 415 PD patients (201 men and 214 women) with modified Hoehn-Yahr stage 1 to 3 and a disease duration of ≤5 years. ⋯ Concerning non-motor symptoms, men with PD had higher scores of sexual function on the Non-Motor Symptoms Scale, which means sexual dysfunction was more severe or occurred more frequently in men with PD. Women with PD had significantly higher scores of sleep disturbance in the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, which was not significant after adjustment for multiple comparison. The present study suggests that women with PD had milder motor symptoms compared to men with PD, and gender differences in sexual function can be observed as non-motor symptoms.

Nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common type of lung cancer. This study aimed to categorize the microvessels in advanced NSCLC and determine the relationship between intratumoral microvascular density (MVD) and the efficacy of anlotinib for NSCLC. The clinical data of 68 patients receiving anlotinib as third-line treatment or beyond for advanced NSCLC were retrospectively collected. ⋯ Patients with high undifferentiated-vessel MVD had significantly longer median progression-free survival than those with low undifferentiated-vessel MVD (7.1 vs 3.7 months, P < .001). Anlotinib as third- or beyond line therapy is safe and effective for advanced NSCLC. Patients with a higher density of undifferentiated microvessels have better response to anlotinib and longer progression-free survival.
