Coronary heart disease (CHD) patients are categorized by occlusion or vascular stenosis leading to myocardial ischemia, hypoxia, and necrosis. In clinical cardiovascular, CHD remains as a leading disease that is primarily prevalent among older people and mid-aged groups. CHD has a drastic impact on their life standard, and is known to have debilitating effects on both mental and physical wellbeing. As a Chinese patent medicine, compound Danshen dripping pills (CDDPs) are commonly administered to treat CHD in China. Despite the common intake of CDDPs, there is a lack of evidence-based clinical practice to inform its efficacy and safety through related systematic reviews. Therefore, the present protocol proposes to conduct a meta-analysis aiming to evaluate the effectivity and safeness of using CDDP for treating CHD patients. ⋯ 10.17605/OSF.IO/HJTP8.

Anticoagulant treatment increases the risk of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), but whether the treatment, more specifically non-vitamin K oral anticoagulants (NOACs), increases the risk of cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) remains uncertain. We performed this study to investigate the development of new CMBs due to NOACs or warfarin treatment in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). We prospectively recruited AF patients before anticoagulation from June 2016 to June 2018. ⋯ AF patients treated with NOACs may have a decreased trend in the development of new CMBs compared with those treated with warfarin. Baseline CMBs increased the frequency of new CMBs during anticoagulant treatment. The development of new CMBs in AF patients with anticoagulation requires further longitudinal studies with longer follow-up in larger samples.

3β-hydroxy-Δ5-C27-steroid dehydrogenase deficiency is a rare autosomal recessive condition. So far fewer than 100 cases have been reported and the factors affecting the prognosis are not yet established. The objective of this study is to explore a possible prediction of the outcome of this rare condition. ⋯ Age of onset of the symptoms may be a potential factor that determines the outcome of patients with 3β-HSD deficiency, patients presented with symptoms and signs at an age younger than 1 month or even 1 year may have a worse prognosis. Since there is no difference between clinical outcome and zygosity of gene mutation, we recommend a further study about any possible relationship between mutation site and clinical characteristics or prognosis.

Several epidemiological studies have shown that silica exposure triggers the onset of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE); however, the clinical characteristics of silica-associated SLE have not been well studied. ⋯ Close attention is needed, particularly for respiratory system events and infectious diseases, when treating patients with silica-associated SLE using immunosuppressive therapies.

Homelessness is a more complex problem than the simple lack of a place to live. Homeless people (HP) often suffer from poor health and premature death due to their limited access healthcare, and are also deprived of basic human and social rights. The study protocol described here aims to evaluate the complex relationship between homelessness and health, and identify the barriers and facilitators that impact access to healthcare by HP. ⋯ It is well-known that HP experience poor health and premature death, but more information is needed about the influence of the different specific social determinants of these outcomes and about the barriers and facilitators that affect the access of HP to healthcare. The results of this mixed methods study will help to develop global health strategies that improve the health and access to healthcare in HP.
