Meta Analysis
Association between IL8RB C1208T mutation and risk of cancer: A pooled analysis based on 5299 cases and 6899 controls.
The CXC chemokines are unique cytokines that play a vital role in the progression of many cancers. Association between chemokine (C-X-C motif) receptor 2 (IL8RB) C1208T mutation and cancer risk remains incomprehensive. ⋯ IL8RB C1208T may be correlated with the risk of cancer, especially prostate adenocarcinoma.

Music therapy serves as a non-pharmacological intervention for a variety of disorders with promising results. However, the effect of music therapy on improving anxiety, depression, and sleep quality in intensive care unit (ICU) patients remains unclear. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate the effect of music therapy on improving anxiety, depression, and sleep quality in ICU patients, thus providing evidences to support music therapy as a novel complementary alternative therapy. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/EXAZ6.

Relapsing polychondritis (RP) is a multisystem inflammatory disorder, considered to associate with immune aberration. Increased T helper type-1 cell-related cytokines were reported in RP patients. mRNA expressions of a regulatory T cell cytokine interleukin (IL)-10 increased, whereas pro-inflammatory cytokines IL1β and IL6 mRNA expressions decreased in freshly isolated peripheral blood mononuclear cells of RP patients compared with those in healthy individuals. Upon in vitro stimulation with mitogen, IL10 mRNA expressions decreased, and IL1β and IL6 mRNA expressions increased in RP patients. ⋯ In a metagenomic analysis, an altered composition of gut microbes was found, suggesting that microbe metabolites such as short-chain fatty acids may affect T cell responses of the patients. In this review, the relationships among RP-related inflammatory molecules were summarized. The data support a hypothesis that the immune conditions are different between steady-state and inflammation in RP patients.

Rapid-onset, acute hypernatremia caused by sodium overload is a rare, life-threatening condition. Although experts recommend rapid correction of sodium concentration [Na] based on pathophysiological theories, only a few reports have documented the specific details of sodium correction methods. The objective of this study was to systematically review the reported treatment regimens, achieved [Na] correction rates, and treatment outcomes. ⋯ The limited empirical evidence derived from case reports appears to endorse the recommended, rapid, and aggressive sodium correction using dextrose-based hypotonic solutions.
