The nonstructured abstract were supplied as following: Estrogen receptor is involved in the pathogenesis of recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA). The ESR1 and ESR2 genes can mediate nongenomic estrogen responses. This study aimed to assess the genetic association between the ESR1 and ESR2 genes polymorphisms and RSA susceptibility in a Chinese Han population. ⋯ In addition, no association was found between the alleles, genotypes, and haplotypes of ESR2 rs207764, rs4986938, rs1256049 polymorphisms and RSA risk (P > .05). In conclusion, the haplotype rs9340799A-rs2234693C-rs3798759A of ESR1 might be a risk factor. And the haplotype rs9340799G-rs2234693C-rs3798759A of ESR1 might be a protective factor for RSA in a Chinese Han population.

Case Reports
Fabry disease with acute myocardial infarction, left ventricular thrombosis, and pericardial effusion: A case report.
Fabry disease (FD) is a rare, X-linked lysosomal deposition disease characterized by multi-system symptoms. The accumulation of globotriaosylceramide in various organs, such as the kidneys and heart, as well as the nervous system, has been speculated to be the mechanism involved in tissue damage, including vascular impairment with thrombotic events. ⋯ Our case suggests that clinicians should consider the possibility of FD in patients with acute myocardial infarction and cardiomyopathy. A detailed analysis of subtle historical clues would help promote earlier diagnosis of FD.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of an advanced neuroRehabilitation protocol using virtual reality in the treatment of a patient with fronto- temporal dementia due to TREM2 mutation. ⋯ Virtual reality can be considered a promising tool for the motor and cognitive rehabilitation of rare neurodegenerative disorders, including patients with NHD.

This study was conducted to evaluate the predictive value of spleen stiffness-spleen size-to-platelet ratio risk score (SSPS) as a noninvasive predictor of esophageal varices (EVs) and to compare it with others. In this retrospective study, from April 2017 to October 2018, a total of 65 patients with hepatitis B virus-related cirrhosis who underwent the liver and spleen stiffness (LS, and SS) measurements by 2 dimensional-shear wave elastography and endoscopic evaluation for EVs were enrolled. Liver stiffness-spleen size-to-platelet ratio risk score (LSPS) and SSPS were calculated. ⋯ The AUCs of the LS value, SS value, LSPS, and SSPS for predicting high-risk EVs were 0.55, 0.78, 0.67, and 0.80, respectively. SSPS had the highest specificity, at 96.15%, for predicting EVs. SSPS may be beneficial to exclude from having EVs and it is expected that the frequency of performing endoscopies for screening EVs can be reduced.

We compared the prevalence of adenoma and cancerous colon polyps in patients undergoing endoscopic removal or gastric surgery for gastric adenoma or gastric cancer and in healthy individuals. The medical records of 707 patients with gastric neoplasm and 798 age- and sex-matched healthy subjects were retrospectively analyzed between January 2010 and July 2018. The clinicopathological characteristics, prevalence of colorectal neoplasm diagnosed by colonoscopy, and risk factors for colorectal polyps were also investigated. ⋯ Patients with gastric neoplasms had a significantly higher prevalence of advanced colon adenoma. Advanced colon adenoma is associated with the chain from benign adenomas through malignant altered adenomas to advanced colon cancer. Thus, patients with gastric neoplasm are regarded as a high-risk group for colorectal cancer and are recommended for screening colonoscopy at the time of diagnosis.
