to investigate the efficacy and long-term outcomes of endovascular embolization and surgical clipping for patients with posterior communicating artery unruptured aneurysms (PcomAs) concomitant with oculomotor nerve palsy (ONP). No significant (P > .05) difference existed in the age, gender, proportion of complete ONP, and size of eye fissure and pupil before treatment between 2 groups. After compared with before treatment, the eye fissure was widened significantly (P < .05) and the pupil narrowed significantly (P < .05), but no significant (P > .05) differences existed between the 2 groups. ⋯ The recovery rate of the ONP was significantly (P < .01) greater in the microsurgical group than that in the embolization group at follow-up of 1 month, 3 months, six and 12 months, respectively. At 18 months, the ONP recovery rate was not significantly different between 2 groups (95% vs 97.5%) Surgical clipping may have a faster effect on the recovery of oculomotor nerve palsy than endovascular embolization for patients with posterior communicating artery unruptured aneurysms complicated with oculomotor nerve palsy, but both approaches may result in a similar effect on the nerve recovery in the long run. Eighty patients treated with endovascular embolization or surgical clipping were retrospectively enrolled into the endovascular embolization group or surgical clipping and analyzed.

Diagnostic accuracy of S-Detect to breast cancer on ultrasonography: A meta-analysis (PRISMA).
Computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems have shown great potential as an effective auxiliary diagnostic tool in breast imaging. Previous studies have shown that S-Detect technology has a high accuracy in the differential diagnosis of breast masses. However, the application of S-Detect in clinical practice remains controversial, and the results vary among different clinical trials. This meta-analysis aimed to determine the diagnostic accuracy of S-Detect for distinguishing between benign and malignant breast masses. ⋯ Our meta-analysis indicates that S-Detect may have high diagnostic accuracy in distinguishing benign and malignant breast masses.

Radiomics (RC) was initially developed using computed tomography (CT) for oncological imaging. However, it can be applied to various scientific and clinical radiology fields regardless of the modalities involved. The purpose of this survey was to evaluate alterations in magnetic resonance imaging of the heart (CMR) in patients suffering from autoimmune thyroid disorders (AITD) by applying RC tools and mapping features. ⋯ Global native T1 and T2 mapping revealed no significant differences between groups. However, we identified significantly higher values of several texture parameters, including the gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) entropy, gray-level run-length matrix (GLRLM; short-run high gray-level emphasis (SRHGE), GLCM (Energy), gray-level size zone matrix length matrix (GLZLM; LZLGE), GLZLM (SZLGE), DISCRETIZED (HISTO-Energy) GLCM (Dissimilarity), and GLCM (Contrast), in patients with AITD in comparison to the CG (P < .01). Our results indicate that several RC properties extracted from CMR images can be used to discriminate between the AITD and CG groups.

Post-ERCP pancreatitis: Frequency and risk stratification from four tertiary care referral hospitals in South East Asia.
Post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) pancreatitis (PEP) is a dreaded complication. But the frequency of this complication varies widely (1%-40%) among the literature and across geographical regions. With uncertainty in the estimation of occurrence and having no accepted, safe, effective method to prevent it, identification of its frequency and predictable risk factors is very crucial in a local or regional setting. ⋯ The univariate analysis also found difficult cannulation and pancreatic duct injection with contrast as significant risk factors. Both patient-related and procedure-related risk factors acted independently for the development of PEP, which occurred in 19.6% of cases. This multicenter assessment of the frequency and risk factors for PEP in our patients would be extremely beneficial for future prevention of this complication.

This study aimed to investigate the effect on the severity and prognostic value of serum procalcitonin for elderly patients with oral and maxillofacial infections. We divided 163 elderly patients with severe oral and maxillofacial infection into survival and death groups according to the prognosis between June 2015 and May 2021, measured serum procalcitonin by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 7th day after admission for the dynamic changes of serum procalcitonin level, collected the general physiological and biochemical indexes for the scores of acute physiology and general chronic condition, compared the correlation between serum procalcitonin, mean platelet count and APACHE score, analyzed the prognostic value of serum procalcitonin levels at different time after admission by ROC curve. The serum procalcitonin level increased significantly in both groups after admission, sharply increased at first and then rapidly decreased in the survival group, and continued to rise or declined slowly with fluctuation of high level in the death group. ⋯ The serum procalcitonin level is correlated with the severity of the disease in elderly patients with severe oral and maxillofacial space infection. Dynamic observation of it is helpful for the prognosis judgment of patients. After admission, serum procalcitonin level on the third day has a great value for the prognosis judgment of elderly patients with severe oral and maxillofacial space infection.
