Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms (SPNs) are frequently seen in young women. Although the behavior pattern varies, these rare lesions generally have a low malignant potential. In this study, the aim was to investigate the effect of clinicopathological features of lesions on the recurrence in and survival of patients. ⋯ The overall survival rate was 95.7%. SPNs are rare lesions with low malignant potential. SPNs are associated with longer-term survival after surgical resection.

In our earlier work, we revealed that inflammation of the lesser curvature of the gastric body and antrum could constitute independent risk factors for gastric cancer development, while inflammation of the greater curvature was not. The aims of this study were as follows: first, to reveal the differences between T lymphocyte populations of the gastric antrum and the greater and lesser curvatures of the gastric body in patients after Helicobacter pylori eradication; second, to analyze the correlation between the composition of the stomach-resident T lymphocytes and time from H. pylori eradication; and third, to evaluate the sex differences in T lymphocyte subsets after H. pylori eradication. To investigate site-specific differences in stomach-resident T lymphocytes after H. pylori eradication, we performed flow cytometry analysis on samples taken from the gastric antrum, greater curvature of the gastric body, and lesser curvature of the gastric body of 20 patients. ⋯ Linear regression analysis showed a negative correlation between the time after H. pylori eradication and CD4+/CD3+ (P < .05, R2 = 0.198). There were no significant differences between men and women with respect to the lymphocyte populations. These results indicate that there are site-specific differences in lymphocyte composition in the stomach after H. pylori eradication.

This study aimed to identify potential essential genes and pathways in diabetes of the exocrine pancreas (DEP) and explore possible molecular mechanisms. The array dataset GSE76895 was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. Pancreatic tissue samples from 20 Diabetes of the exocrine pancreas and 32 nondiabetic individuals were selected for analysis. ⋯ HLA-DRA is identified as the central gene of the PPI network and maybe a marker gene for DEP. Furthermore, up-regulated DEGs are mainly enriched in pathways related to the immune system and infection. The results of this study suggest that HLA-DRA and immune system pathways may play essential roles in DEP.

Many classic decoctions of Chinese medicine including Radix Bupleuri are used to treat major depressive disorder (MDD). Saikosaponin D is a representative bioactive ingredient discovered in Radix Bupleuri. The mechanism of saikogenin G (SGG) as a metabolite in MDD remains unclear to date. ⋯ A total of 78 overlapping genes were selected as targets of MDD treatment including albumin, insulin-like growth factor I, mitogen-activated protein kinase 1, proto-oncogene tyrosine-protein kinase Src, and epidermal growth factor receptor. Gene ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment analysis suggested that proteoglycans in cancer, pathways in cancer, prostate cancer, hypoxia-inducible factor-1, central carbon metabolism in cancer, estrogen, PI3K-Akt, ErbB, Rap1, and prolactin signaling pathways played an important role(P < .0001). This study showed that SGG exhibits good drug-like properties and elucidated the potential mechanisms of SGG in treating MDD with regulating inflammation, energy metabolism, monoamine neurotransmitters, neuroplasticity, phosphocreatine-creatine kinase circuits, and so on.

The diagnosis of adult-onset Still disease (AOSD) is challenging with ambiguous clinical presentation and no specific serological markers. We aim to evaluate the diagnostic utility of clinical, laboratory and serum ferritin features in established AOSD patients. We included all patients >18 years who were admitted to 2 tertiary medical centers (2003-2019) with serum ferritin above 1000 ng/mL. ⋯ On the other hand, serum ferritin showed variation and poorer results, depends on the chosen ferritin cutoff. Joint involvement showed the best diagnostic utility to establish the diagnosis of AOSD. Although clinicians use often elevated ferritin levels as an anchor to AOSD, the final diagnosis should be based on thorough clinical evaluation.
