Determination of human papillomavirus (HPV) status has become clinically relevant for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients. p16 immunohistochemistry is one of the recommended methods for classifying HPV status. However, long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and related competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) networks linked to different p16-status HNSCC are still absent. In the present study, The Cancer Genome Atlas database provided RNA profiles as well as clinical information from 26 p16-positive HNSCC samples, 71 p16-negative HNSCC samples, and 44 adjacent normal control samples. ⋯ Among the RNAs in the ceRNA network, 5 mRNAs were significantly related to the overall survival. Taken together, we revealed the differential RNA expression profiling and the differential ceRNA network in the p16-positive and p16-negative group of HNSCC. Our findings provided a novel insight into this HPV-related cancer and potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for HNSCC based on p16 status.

Correlation of TBK1, AR, and other serum cancer-related biomarkers in breast cancer patients: An observational study.
Breast cancer (BC) ranks first for incidence and mortality in gynecological malignant tumors. This study aims to investigate the diagnostic value of Tank-binding kinase 1 (TBK1) and its correlation with androgen receptor (AR) and other serum cancer-related biomarkers in BC patient. The present observational study included 451 female BC patients and 451 healthy controls. ⋯ Moreover, cutoff value of 13.95 ng/mL TBK1 showed AUC of 0.981 (93.6% for sensitivity and 86.3% for specificity) for diagnosing BC, and cutoff value of 22.65 ng/mL TBK1 had AUC of 0.996 (97.7% for sensitivity and 96.3% for specificity) for diagnosing the death of BC patients. Serum TBK1 was positively correlated with AR and other serum cancer-related biomarkers. In addition, high TBK1 predicted the poor prognosis and might be used for the diagnosis of BC.

To determine the ultrasound imaging characteristics of patients with bronchial anthracofibrosis (BAF) and identify clinical markers for prevention and treatment. We randomly selected 1243 participants (113 with BAF) who underwent bronchoscopy and received treatment at our institution between April 2018 and October 2019. BAF was classified as flat, deep-seated retracted, or black mucosal protruding based on microscopic findings. ⋯ The flat group showed no significant change (P > .05). Differences in BAF airway remodeling among different subtypes may lead to varying clinical symptoms. Analyzing the characteristics of BAF airway remodeling and the regulatory pathway may provide new clues for treatment.

Diagnosis and treatment of primary hyperparathyroidism with pathological fracture of the limbs: A retrospective observational study.
Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) with pathological fracture is rare, and the early symptoms of PHPT lack specificity, leading to misdiagnosis. Therefore, this study aimed to summarize the clinical characteristics and treatment of PHPT patients with pathological fractures and to improve the attention of orthopedic clinicians to PHPT. It is a retrospective study, 2226 patients with hyperparathyroidism in our hospital from 2009 to 2019 were screened, excluding secondary hyperparathyroidism and patients without limb fracture, and the remaining 20 patients with PHPT accompanied by pathological fractures were finally analyzed. ⋯ The follow-up time was 4.60 ± 0.62 years (1-10 years). All patients recovered well from the fracture, the symptoms of systemic bone pain were markedly improved, and bone mineral density was significantly improved after surgery. Orthopedic surgeons need to avoid misdiagnosis and pay attention to the early symptoms in PHPT patients with pathological fracture, and better therapeutic effects can be obtained by combining parathyroidectomy with fractures fixation.

Respiratory tract infections are common illnesses in children, causing significant morbidity and negatively affecting their health. Vitamin A protects against infections and maintains epithelial integrity. The goal of this study was to determine the correlation between vitamin A deficiency and recurrent respiratory tract infections (RRTIs). ⋯ Additionally, children with RRTIs had significantly higher rates of subclinical vitamin A deficiency and vitamin A deficiency than those in the control group, which had 1% subclinical vitamin A deficiency (P = .017) and no cases of vitamin A deficiency (P = .043). The RRTIs group had higher rates of otitis media (27.3%), sinusitis (20%), and pneumonia (4.7%) than the RTI group (P = .002). Vitamin A insufficiency was associated with RRTIs in children.
