Randomized Controlled Trial
Effect of low-dose lidocaine on MEPs in patients undergoing intracranial tumor resection with propofol anesthesia: A randomized controlled trial.
To investigate the effect of low-dose lidocaine on motor evoked potentials (MEPs) in patients undergoing intracranial tumor resection with propofol anesthesia. ⋯ Low-dose lidocaine has no obvious effect on MEP in patients undergoing intracranial tumor resection. However, it increased hemodynamic stability, reduced propofol use, and decreased the incidence of adverse events.

Complete response of advanced rectal gastrointestinal stromal tumors after imatinib treatment: A case report and literature review.
Patients with rectal gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) who achieve a complete response (CR) with imatinib therapy have rarely been reported in the literature. Moreover, no treatment guidelines have been established for rectal GIST patients with CR after imatinib treatment, warranting further studies. ⋯ Surgery remains the mainstay of treatment for advanced rectal GIST patients who achieve cCR after imatinib treatment. Close follow-up and continuous imatinib treatment are indicated in patients who cannot undergo surgery.

T790M mutation positive squamous cell carcinoma transformation from EGFR-mutated lung adenocarcinoma after low dose erlotinib: A case report and literature review.
Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are widely used for the treatment of EGFR mutation positive advanced nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC); however, acquired resistance is known to develop during these treatments. Among these mechanisms, histological transformation is seldom encountered. Although platinum based chemotherapy has been reported to be effective in the treatment of patients with small cell lung cancer transformation, there is a lack of information on the treatment of patients with squamous cell carcinoma (SQ) transformation. ⋯ The literature review and our report suggest that osimertinib is a promising treatment for NSCLC regardless of histology if T790M is present as an acquired mutation.

Case report of isolated synchronous multiple splenic metastases from rectal cancer: A case report and brief review of the literature.
Isolated splenic metastasis emanating from colorectal cancer is an extremely rare finding, which usually indicates widely disseminated and multiple metastatic cancer. There have only been 39 cases of isolated splenic metastasis reported in the English literature to date. ⋯ In addition to revealing a rare case, we also performed a literature review, including a brief discussion about the atypical isolated splenic metastasis from colorectal cancer. Our findings enrich the database of this rare clinical entity and provide experience in the management of splenic metastasis.

Transformation from polycythemia vera to acute promyelocytic leukemia: Case report and literature review.
Transformation from chronic myeloproliferative neoplasm to acute leukemia is a feature of myeloproliferative neoplasm; however, the rate is not high. Transformation to acute promyelocytic leukemia is rare. Here, we report a case of transformation of polycythemia vera to acute promyelocytic leukemia and describe a process of clonal evolution that has not yet been reported. ⋯ Polycythemia vera can transform into acute promyelocytic leukemia; therefore, it is important to review bone aspiration and other tests to perform a comprehensive assessment and monitor the disease status, to detect disease progression and intervene early when it transforms into acute promyelocytic leukemia.
