At present, researchers have obtained fruitful results in the study of nutcracker syndrome (NCS), but there is still a lack of systematic research on the overall status of this disease. This article aims to describe the past and current status of research into NCS, and predict future research trends and popular research topics. ⋯ The literature utilization rate of NCS is relatively insufficient. The pathogenesis and pathological mechanisms need to be further studied, and the diagnostic criteria and surgical methods will continue to be favored by clinicians.

The impact of a multispecialty operative team on colorectal cancer surgery: A retrospective study from a would-be medical center in Taiwan.
Some studies showed that when distant metastasis or locally advanced tumors were observed, the participation of 2 or more operating surgeons (combined surgery) in the operation could improve the prognosis of patients. The multispecialty operative team would perform combined surgery in colon cancer patients with some complications since 2015. The goal of this study is to confirm performing combined surgery would improve the outcomes of colon cancer patients. ⋯ Patients in the NC_1S group had significantly higher 12-, 24-, and 36-month OS rates compared to those in the C_1S group (P < .01). In contrast, there was no significant difference in overall survival among patients in the NC_1S and C_2S group (P =.15). The quality of surgery must be impact the prognosis, especially in the individual who was complicated case, the survival in patients who had surgery performed by multispecialty operative team would be improved.

Nursing performance is closely related to the success of hospital and patient outcome. Recently, the proportion of male nurses has gradually increased. However, we do not know how these male nurses perform in clinical work. The purpose of this study was to understand the job performance of male nurses in China and to identify their risk factors. ⋯ Chinese male nurses are younger and have shorter working years. They mainly work in departments with higher work intensity and greater pressure. In addition, we found that years of service, education, marital status, department and main reasons for choosing nursing as factors influencing the job performance of male nurses.

Whether an unstable C1 burst fracture should be treated surgically or conservatively is controversial. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and motion-preserving function of temporary fixation of C1-C2 screw-rod system for the reduction and fixation of unstable C1 burst fracture. We retrospectively reviewed 10 patients who were treated with posterior C1-C2 temporary fixation without fusion. ⋯ Posterior temporary C1-C2 fixation can achieve a good fusion and satisfied reduction of C1 fracture, relieve the pain, improve the cervical function outcome, but may reduce the rotational range of motion of C1-C2. Posterior C1-C2 temporary fixation without fusion was not suitable for C1 burst fracture. We recommend permanent C1-C2 fixation and fusion for C1 burst fracture if surgery is necessary.

Upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage (UGIH) is defined as hemorrhage originating from the gastrointestinal tract proximal to the ligament of Treitz. The causes of UGIH include esophagitis, gastritis, peptic ulcers, Mallory-Weiss syndrome, and cancer. However, a rare cause of UGIH, such as an accessory spleen, may lead to serious complications if left untreated and can sometimes be very difficult to diagnose preoperatively. ⋯ UGIH caused by accessory spleen is extremely rare. This entity should be considered in differential diagnosis of gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Surgical intervention is necessary for timely diagnosis and treatment in case of gastrointestinal hemorrhage in critical clinical situations.
