Medical-related information rapidly spreads throughout the internet. However, these types of information often contain inaccurate information, which can lead to harmful misconceptions. In this study, we evaluated the reliability, quality, and accuracy of videos uploaded on YouTube that harbor claims on the effects of acupuncture on COVID-19 treatment. ⋯ Despite the videos being made by experts, their reliability, content-quality, and accuracy were found to be low. The spread of inaccurate information may result in the use of inappropriate and potentially harmful treatment methods for patients. Videos that contain medical information should be produced based on verified scientific evidence.

While patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) continue to increase worldwide, few hematological biomarkers are helpful. This study examined the potential of small dense low density lipoprotein (sdLDL) as a noninvasive biomarker for NAFLD and investigated the relevance of liver fibrosis. One hundred seventy two patients were enrolled: 121 NAFLD patients and 51 healthy controls. ⋯ The sdLDL and NAFLD activity scores of the 11 NAFLD patients who underwent liver biopsy showed a positive correlation, but it was not statistically significant. The sdLDL was higher in NAFLD patients than in controls and showed a tendency to increase gradually with increasing degree of hepatic steatosis and fibrosis. In particular, the sdLDL/LDL ratio showed a significant correlation with the degree of hepatic fibrosis, and the sdLDL measurement could be useful in NAFLD patients.

Biliary atresia (BA) is the most common cause of obstructive jaundice during the neonatal period. This study aimed to identify gene expression signature in BA. The datasets were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. ⋯ Functional enrichment analysis revealed that module genes were mainly involved in biological processes, such as extracellular matrix organization, cell adhesion, inflammatory response, and the Notch pathway (P < .001), whereas these genes were involved in the metabolic pathways and cell adhesion molecules (P < .001). Thirty-nine high-connectivity genes in the brown module constructed protein-protein interaction networks. keratin 7 (KRT7) and C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 8 (CXCL8) were used to construct a diagnostic model that had an accuracy of 93.6% and the area under the receiver operating curves for the model was 0.93. The study provided insight into the signature of gene expression and possible pathogenesis of BA; furthermore, it identified that the combination of KRT7 and CXCL8 could be a potential diagnostic model for BA.

The purposes were to analyze correlations between the frequency of beverage drinking (coffee, green tea, milk, and soft drinks) and the presence of radiographic knee osteoarthritis (OA) in relation to sex. We performed this study using the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KHANES V-1, 2). We examined data from 5503 subjects after exclusion. ⋯ However, there was no significant linear trend of the odds ratio of each group in both sexes for drinking other beverages. As the coffee consumption increased, the radiographic knee OA group showed decreasing linear trend only in women. However, other beverages did not show a significant relation to the radiographic knee OA in both sexes.

Treatment of membranous nephropathy with crescent nephritis by rituximab: A case report.
Crescent formation is rare in primary membranous nephropathy (MN). The mechanism of crescent formation is unknown and the treatments are tentative. ⋯ Our case suggests that there is a pathologic feature of MN and crescents in the absence of known immunologic factors as well as rituximab could serve as an effective cure and could be considered in serious MN conditions.
