The application of flipped classroom combined with team-based learning in the orthopedic clinical teaching.
Medical education has evolved rapidly, with the development of flipped classrooms and team-based learning based on lecture-based learning, but the novel model of combining flipped classrooms with team-based learning has been poorly investigated in orthopedic education. ⋯ FTG is generally recognized as a promising option for training clinical interns and is worth spreading as it has outstanding merits in developing students clinical competence.

The association between coffee intake and bone mineral density (BMD) remains a subject of debate in epidemiological research. Furthermore, the potential relationship between BMD and urine caffeine or caffeine metabolites has not yet been explored. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the possible association between BMD and urine caffeine and its metabolites in U. ⋯ Our investigation revealed that the inflection points for the U-shaped relationship between urinary theophylline and paraxanthine and BMD were observed at levels of 0.006 mmol/L for theophylline and 0.052 mmol/L for paraxanthine. In this cross-sectional study, we found no significant correlation between urine caffeine and its metabolites and BMD. However, more research is required to confirm our findings, as well as to investigate the underlying mechanisms.

This study aims to assess the incidence of neuropathic pain, vasomotor symptoms, and sympathetic skin responses (SSR) in patients who have recovered from COVID-19 infection and contrast these findings with healthy controls. The study encompassed 56 post-COVID-19 patients and 40 healthy controls (group 1: post-COVID-19 patients, and group 2: healthy controls). The presence of autonomic dysfunction symptoms (ADS) and orthostatic hypotension following COVID-19 infection was documented in group 1. ⋯ Furthermore, a positive correlation was established between the latencies of the left median nerve SSR and ADS scores (R = 0.339, P = .014). The SSR patterns were congruous between healthy individuals and post-COVID-19 patients. However, a higher prevalence of autonomic dysfunction symptoms and correlations among SSR, autonomic dysfunction scores, fatigue, and forgetfulness levels were identified among post-COVID-19 patients.

Medical infrared thermal imaging (IRT) has been applied to research blood flow, breast cancer detection, and human body muscle performance. The benefits of IRT include the fact that it is noninvasive, quick, dependable, non-contact, capable of creating several recordings in a short period of time, and secure for both patients and medical professionals. We aimed to determine the predictive value of IRT for identifying and evaluating any interventional procedure in patients affected by peripheral artery disease (PAD) of any severity. ⋯ This noninvasive method demonstrated encouraging results in the detection of various areas of foot perfusion and the screening of PAD, and it gave good findings in gauging the effects of any type of intervention.

Vitiligo is an acquired chronic depigmentary disorder affecting approximately 0.5% to 1% of individuals worldwide. The compound glycyrrhizin (CG), a complementary medicine, has been reported for treatment of vitiligo, but the evidence has not been systematically evaluated. We systematically assessed the efficacy and safety of CG in combination with conventional therapy for the treatment of vitiligo. ⋯ CG as a complementary medicine has a potential benefit in treatment of vitiligo. However, since the methodological flaws in the studies we included, more high-quality randomized controlled trials are warranted.
