Assessment of memory recognition using a smartphone-based test system: A pilot study.
Elucidation of the detailed nature of age-related memory decline requires analysis of memory performance in large populations of various ages. To promote large-scale studies, we developed a smartphone-based self-test for memory recognition. We examined whether this test could detect age-related memory decline and the effects of aerobic exercise on memory. ⋯ These results demonstrated that the smartphone-based test could detect age-related decline and could promote behavior modification that may lead to memory enhancement, as reported in previous studies using conventional laboratory tests. The results of the smartphone-based test were not influenced by the subjects affect. This indicates the possibility of large-scale memory studies and healthcare for memory performance by using personal mobile devices.

Effects of Baduanjin exercise on patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain and surface electromyography signs of erector spinal muscle: A randomized controlled trial.
Chronic nonspecific low back pain (CNLBP) is a common disease usually with lower back muscle fatigue and injuries that may contribute to lumbar muscle imbalance and pain recurrence. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Baduanjin exercise on patients of CNLBP and to assess its impact on the surface electromyographic signals of the lumbar erector spinae muscle. ⋯ Baduanjin exercise has shown to be highly effective in reducing low back pain and in promoting lumber dysfunction, due to its ability to improve the strength and flexibility of the lumbar erector spinae muscle.

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of cognitive impairments on treatment compliance and quality of life in patients with Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD). A cross-sectional study was conducted among patients with CAPD at the Department of Nephrology, Lianshui People's Hospital from October 2021 to May 2022. Cognitive function was assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and the End-Stage Renal Disease Adherence Questionnaire was used to evaluate treatment compliance. ⋯ Patients with cognitive impairments also had lower quality of life scores in the dimensions of physical function, general health, social function, emotional function, and mental health (all P < .05). Cognitive impairment appears to be common among CAPD patients and may adversely affect both their treatment adherence and overall quality of life. A more comprehensive understanding of the underlying mechanisms necessitates further study.

The application of flipped classroom combined with team-based learning in the orthopedic clinical teaching.
Medical education has evolved rapidly, with the development of flipped classrooms and team-based learning based on lecture-based learning, but the novel model of combining flipped classrooms with team-based learning has been poorly investigated in orthopedic education. ⋯ FTG is generally recognized as a promising option for training clinical interns and is worth spreading as it has outstanding merits in developing students clinical competence.

Application of surgical pleth index in the opioid-free anesthesia: A randomized controlled trial.
Currently, there is no gold standard for monitoring noxious stimulation during surgery, and the surgical pleth index (SPI) is only one of many monitoring methods. It is commonly used in the monitoring of conventional opiate anesthesia, but its effectiveness in opioid-free anesthesia (OFA) has not been evaluated. Therefore, the aim of this study was to observe the guidance value of the surgical pleth index in opioid-free anesthesia for patients undergoing lower abdominal or pelvic surgery. ⋯ The guiding value of SPI in OFA was similar to its use in opiated anesthesia. Its clinical efficacy is exact, vital signs are stable, enabling rapid, and complete regaining of consciousness.
