The pain caused by recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) and the recurrent nature of RAS lead to diminished quality of life for RAS patients. An alternative treatment for RAS is the oral administration of the Chinese herbal medicine Zhibai Dihuang pill (ZBDHP). Our study aims to investigate the clinical efficacy of ZBDHP when used in combination with Western medicine (WM) for the treatment of RAS and its effectiveness in preventing the recurrence of RAS. ⋯ It was found that the combination of ZBDHP and WM is more effective in treating RAS than the use of WM alone, which thus provides clinicians with a more optimal treatment option. However, due to limitations in the methodological quality of the included original studies and the small sample size, we hold the opinion that more rigorous and scientific clinical trials are needed to further evaluate the efficacy of ZBDHP in treating RAS.

To systematically evaluate the curative effect of repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation at different frequencies on swallowing disorders after stroke. ⋯ Based on the current study, the optimal frequency and site selection results of the 2 evaluation indicators are not uniform, but from the combination of the 2 evaluation indicators, the treatment effect of 10H is good, and the effect of bilateral stimulation for the selection of stimulation sites is good. The above conclusions need to be verified in high-quality studies.

Exercise reduces chronic complications in individuals with diabetes and peripheral vascular diseases. In clinical practice, the use of air insole may reduce peak plantar pressure (PPP), and risk for diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). However, there is no guideline on selecting air insole pressure for effectively reducing PPP. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of different air insole pressure on PPP at different walking durations. ⋯ People at risk of foot ulcers are suggested to wear shoes with 80 mm Hg of air insole for reducing PPP in the first metatarsal head and the second metatarsal head. Moreover, people may avoid wearing the stiffer insole (240 mm Hg) for more than 20 minutes.

Fungal infection (FI) is a life-threatening condition in cirrhotic patients. However, a population-based study is required to determine the short-term mortality of these patients. The Taiwan National Health Insurance Database was used to enroll 1214 cirrhotic patients with FIs who were hospitalized between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2013. ⋯ The overall 30-day and 90-day mortality rates for patients with invasive FIs were 25.7% and 49.9%, respectively (P < .001). After adjusting for sex, age, and other comorbidities, the following 90-day mortality prognostic factors were statistically different: renal function impairment (hazard ratio = 1.98, 95% confidence interval = 1.05-3.70, P = .034), concurrent with bacterial infections (hazard ratio = 1.75, 95% CI = 1.07-2.88, P = .027). Half of the cirrhotic patients died within 90-daysdue to invasive FIs, highlighting the importance of renal function impairment and concurrent with bacterial infections as an important prognostic factor.

You-Gui-Yin (YGY) is a classic prescription for warming up kidney-Yang and filling in kidney essence in traditional Chinese medicine, and has been used to treat osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) effectively. However, the underlying mechanisms are still unknown. This study is aimed at exploring the possible mechanisms of action of the YGY in the treatment of ONFH based on network pharmacology and molecular docking. ⋯ According to GO and KEGG analyses, there were 1762 biological processes, 94 cellular component, 138 molecular function and 187 signaling pathways involved. we selected the top 20 biological processes (BP), cellular components (CC), molecular functions (MF) and signaling pathways to draw the heat maps, showing that Lipid and atherosclerosis signaling pathway, IL-17 signaling pathway, HIF-1 signaling pathway, relaxin signaling pathway and MAPK signaling pathway and other pathways may play a key role in the treatment of ONFH by YGY. The results of molecular docking showed that key effective components and corresponding core target proteins exhibited the good binding activity. YGY can treat ONFH through multicomponents, multitargets, and multipathways, which provides a reference for the subsequent research, development of targeted drugs and clinical application.
