Renal cell carcinoma is the 10th most common type of cancer, accounting for 3.7% of all cancers. Our study examines patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma who received Axitinib or Nivolumab as second-line treatment. This study was designed as a retrospective analysis. ⋯ Both drugs are recommended as monotherapy for second-line and later treatments in the current NCCN guidelines for kidney cancers. Although there is no study in the literature showing that axitinib is more effective than nivolumab, nivolumab was found to be much more effective than axitinib in our study. Prospective studies with higher number of patients are needed on this subject.

The study assessed the association and concordance of the traditional geography-based Rural-Urban Commuting Area (RUCA) codes to individuals' self-reported rural status per a survey scale. The study included residents from rural and urban Indiana, seen at least once in a statewide health system in the past 12 months. Surveyed self-reported rural status of individuals obtained was measured using 6 items with a 7-point Likert scale. ⋯ Gwet's AC ranged from -0.11 to 0.26, indicating poor to fair agreement between the 2 measures based on the benchmark scale of reliability. Geography-based and self-report methods are complementary in assessing rurality. Individuals living in areas of relatively high population density may still self-identify as rural, or individuals with long commutes may self-identify as urban.

Intraoperative positioning-related nerve injuries, particularly those affecting the brachial plexus, are concerning complications believed to arise from stretching and/or compression of peripheral nerves. Although sonoelastography, a new ultrasound technology, is emerging as a valuable tool in the musculoskeletal system, its utility in evaluating peripheral nerves remains unclear. This study aimed to utilize sonoelastography to assess the brachial plexus during surgery, specifically investigating changes in its stiffness values in relation to different head and arm positions. ⋯ Sonoelastography revealed significant increases in the stiffness of the brachial plexus with various head rotations and arm positions compared to the neutral state. These findings suggest that sonoelastography could potentially serve as a valuable tool for assessing the risk of brachial plexus injury during surgery and for guiding optimal patient positioning. Further research with larger sample sizes is needed to establish definitive clinical applications.

Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is an urgent clinical condition of cardiovascular diseases. The present study evaluated the predictive efficacy of the hemoglobin to serum creatinine ratio (Hgb/Cr) on long-term mortality in patients with ACS. The ratio, representing the proportion of the 2 values, is cheap, practical, and very easy to calculate at the bedside. ⋯ The Hgb/Cr ratio's area under the curve value was 0.679 (95% CI: 0.609-0.750; P < .001). A survival analysis using the Kaplan-Meier curve of the 2 Hgb/Cr ratio groups (according to cutoff value) revealed that the low-Hgb/Cr group had a significantly higher mortality rate than high-Hgb/Cr group. The Hgb/Cr ratio was found to be an independent predictor of long-term mortality in ACS patients.

In recent years, acupuncture has gained popularity in the management of cancer-related pain (CRP). This study aims to use bibliometric analysis to investigate the historical development, recent hotspots and research trends in this field. ⋯ This study explored the application value of acupuncture in the management of CRP with bibliometric analysis, offering an intuitive understanding of this topic and revealing the hotspots and research trends.
