This paper implements a bibliometric approach to investigate the research hotspots and future research directions in the relevant field literature. It also offers research ideas and methods for preventing and treating cognitive impairment induced by sleep deprivation in the clinical setting. The evolution of various clusters in the field is summarized through Citespace's projection function for keywords in the literature. ⋯ The article with the strongest citation burst, lasting from 2015 to 2018, is "Sleep Drives Metabolite Clearance from the Adult Brain." The most influential article and co-cited reference, "Neurocognitive Consequences of Sleep Deprivation," highlights that sleep deprivation from various causes may lead to cognitive impairment. Future research should investigate all forms of cognitive impairment resulting from sleep deprivation. The findings of this study will assist researchers in improving their knowledge structure, identifying research hotspots, and revealing future directions in the field.

To analyze the predictive value of homocysteine (Hcy) combined with the Framingham risk score for cardio- and cerebrovascular disease in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) to provide a reference for clinical treatment. We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of 1036 elderly patients with T2DM admitted to our hospital between July 2017 and July 2022. The patients were divided into occurrence (n = 438) and control (n = 598) groups based on the incidence of cardio- or cerebrovascular disease. ⋯ Hcy combined with the Framingham score demonstrated a significantly higher predictive value (0.852, 95% CI: 0.741-0.979). Long smoking history, long diabetes duration, high Framingham score, high SBP, high TC, high FBG, low HDL-C, and high Hcy levels are risk factors for cardio-cerebrovascular disease in elderly patients with T2DM. In addition, Hcy level combined with the Framingham score demonstrated superior predictive power for cardio- and cerebrovascular disease in elderly patients with T2DM.

To detect the expression and significance of GSDMD-N (gasdermin D N-terminal) in breast cancer, along with pyroptosis effector protein NLRP3 (nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein 3), and determine their relationship with the clinicopathological characteristics of breast cancer. ⋯ The expression of the pyrolysis effector proteins NLRP3 and GSDMD-N in breast cancer tissues may take the lead in tumor prognosis in patients with breast cancer.

Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is a rare hematopoietic stem cell disease with features of hemolytic anemia, thrombosis, and bone marrow failure. Due to intravascular hemolysis and hemoglobinuria, renal dysfunction is often accompanied in PNH patients. ⋯ This challenging case tells us that we should consider the first manifestation of PNH as a cause of severe AKI requiring hemodialysis in a patient with anemia and evidence of hemolysis.

Comorbidities associated with psychiatric disorders often occur in patients with cancer. A causal effect of schizophrenia on cancer was observed using Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. However, the causal effect of colorectal cancer on schizophrenia has not been studied using MR analysis. ⋯ In 2 TSMR analyses, we reported that the odds ratios for schizophrenia per log odds increase in colorectal cancer risk were 6.48 (95% confidential interval [CI] of OR 1.75-24.03; P = .005) and 9.62 × 106 (95% CI of OR 1.13-8.22 × 1013; P = .048). Pleiotropic tests and sensitivity analysis demonstrated minimal horizontal pleiotropy and robustness of the causal relationship. We provide evidence for a causal relationship between the incidence of colorectal cancer and the development of schizophrenia through TSMR analysis.
