Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a pathophysiological condition caused by diabetes mellitus and is the leading cause of diabetes mellitus-related mortality. The pathophysiology of DCM involves various processes, such as oxidative stress, inflammation, ferroptosis, and abnormal protein modification. New evidence indicates that dysfunction of glutamine (Gln) metabolism contributes to the pathogenesis of DCM by regulating these pathophysiological mechanisms. ⋯ Although the precise molecular mechanisms of Gln in DCM have yet to be fully elucidated, recent studies have shown that supplementing with Gln improves cardiac function in diabetic hearts. However, excessive Gln may worsen myocardial injury in DCM by generating a large amount of glutamates or increasing O-GlcNacylation. To highlight the potential therapeutic method targeting Gln metabolism and its downstream pathophysiological mechanisms, this article aims to review the regulatory function of Gln in the pathophysiological mechanisms of DCM.

Awake craniotomy is the gold standard for the resection of brain lesions near eloquent areas. For the commonly used asleep-awake-asleep technique, the patient must be awake and fully cooperative as soon as possible after discontinuation of anesthetics. A shorter emergence time is essential to decrease the likelihood of adverse events. ⋯ No association between various measures of skeletal muscle mass and time-to-awake was observed, and no interaction between skeletal muscle mass and BMI was found (all P > .05). Likewise, patients with a high BMI and low skeletal muscle mass (indicating an increased proportion of fat tissue) did not have a prolonged time-to-awake. Skeletal muscle mass did not predict time-to-awake in patients undergoing awake craniotomy, neither in isolation nor in combination with a high BMI.

Effectiveness of low-intensity atorvastatin 5 mg and ezetimibe 10 mg combination therapy compared with moderate-intensity atorvastatin 10 mg monotherapy: A randomized, double-blinded, multi-center, phase III study.
We compared the efficacy and safety of low-intensity atorvastatin and ezetimibe combination therapy with moderate-intensity atorvastatin monotherapy in patients requiring cholesterol-lowering therapy. ⋯ The addition of ezetimibe to low-intensity atorvastatin had a greater effect on lowering LDL cholesterol than moderate-intensity atorvastatin alone, offering an effective treatment option for cholesterol management, especially in patients with low and intermediate risks.

To systematically evaluate the effects of lead therapies on percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). ⋯ Based on the current study, combining conventional therapy/ exercise or using simple lead therapy after PCI can improve the treatment effect and improve the quality of life.

Most cancer patients suffer from the pain of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). This meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a regimen consisting of aprepitant, dexamethasone, and 5-HT3 receptor antagonists in the prevention and treatment of CINV. ⋯ Aprepitant-containing triple therapy is highly effective in the prevention and treatment of CINV, with reliable medication safety.
