Randomized Controlled Trial
The efficacy of temperature intervention combined with tranexamic acid in reducing blood loss and accelerating recovery during spinal fusion.
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of temperature intervention combined with tranexamic acid (TXA) on perioperative blood loss during spinal fusion and accelerated rehabilitation. ⋯ Temperature intervention combined with TXA can significantly reduce blood loss and the transfusion rate of spinal fusion in the perioperative period, reduce the length of stay and accelerate rehabilitation after surgery without increasing the incidence of DVT or PE.

Effect of cord blood double collection method on cord blood hematopoietic stem cell transplantation-related indices and blood gas analysis.
Umbilical cord blood has been widely used in clinical transplantation. Blood gas analysis of umbilical cord blood is routinely used to evaluate neonatal asphyxia. This study aimed to evaluate an improved umbilical cord blood collection method that does not affect the results of umbilical cord blood gas analysis and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation-related indices. ⋯ The cord blood double collection method would not affect the results of umbilical cord blood gas analysis and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation-related indices. It is suitable for cord blood collection when preparing for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and blood gas analysis.

Clinical study of low-frequency acupoint electrical stimulation to improve thumb-to-finger movements after stroke: A randomized controlled trial.
To examine the effect of low-frequency acupoint electrical stimulation (LFES) on the surface electromyographic (sEMG) signals of the thumb-to-finger movement muscles in stroke patients, and to evaluate the clinical efficacy of LFES on hand function recovery after stroke. ⋯ Both LFES and EA were effective in restoring thumb-to-finger movement function after stroke, as evidenced by the increased maximum value and root mean square values of the first dorsal interosseous muscle and the extensor pollicis brevis muscle, the decreased CSS score, the increased Brunnstrom motor function score, the decreased MAS classification, the increased Lindmark hand function score, and the increased Lovett muscle strength classification. However, LFES showed more obvious improvement and better efficacy than EA, which is worthy of clinical promotion.

Effect of TCM rehabilitation program on activities of daily living in patients with post-stroke limb spasticity: An observational study.
Stroke is a neurological disease with many common complications that reduce the activities of daily living and the quality of life of patients. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) rehabilitation techniques, scalp acupuncture, and TCM can relieve spasticity symptoms and recovery from physical obstacles is significant. ⋯ The TCM rehabilitation program using Tongjing Tiaoxing combined with scalp acupuncture and kinesiotherapy can effectively treat spasticity symptoms in stroke patients and improve their activities of daily living and quality of life.

Joubert syndrome is a rare disease of genetic origin with autosomal recessive inheritance and extreme genetic heterogeneity with more than 40 causative genes. Joubert syndrome 7 is caused by mutations in the RPGRIP1L gene. ⋯ This is the first genetically confirmed case of JS in Colombia, the first carrier of biallelic RPGRIP1L gene mutations with hip dislocation and incomplete glottic closure and the first report of the novel c.3545del likely pathogenic variant causing JS.
