The purpose of this study was to construct a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network related to long non-coding RNA (lncRNAs) via the bioinformatics analysis, reveal the pathogenesis of coronary heart disease (CAD) and develop new biomarkers for CAD. The gene expression datasets of peripheral blood of CAD were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. The differentially expressed mRNAs, miRNAs and lncRNAs (DEmRNAs, DEmiRNAs and DElncRNAs) were identified. ⋯ Afterwards, the cytoplasm ceRNA network was consisted of 537 DEmRNAs, 12 DEmiRNAs and 12 DElncRNAs. Such as, up-regulated LncRNA-HOX transcript antisense RNA (HOTAIR) was interacted with down-regulated has-miR-326 and has-miR-1. The successful construction of lncRNA-associated ceRNA network is helpful to better clarify the pathogenesis of CAD and provide potential peripheral blood biomarkers for CAD.

To assess the correlation of orthopedic surgery residents compared with expert geriatricians in the assessment of frailty stage using the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) in patients with hip fractures. A retrospective chart review was performed from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2019. Patients admitted with a diagnosis of hip fracture were identified. ⋯ Given the evidence to support models such as orthogeriatrics to improve outcomes for frail patients, our findings suggest that orthopedic residents may be well positioned to identify patients who could benefit from such early interventions. Our findings also support recent evidence that frailty assessments by orthopedic surgeons may have predictive validity. Low rates of initial frailty assessment by orthopedic residents suggests that further work is required to integrate more global comprehensive care.

Vertebroplasty (VP) effectively treats vertebral compression fractures (VCFs). However, the issue of secondary new VCFs (SNVCFs) after VP is yet to be addressed. Therefore, identification of risk factors for SNVCFs after VP may aid the development of strategies to minimize SNVCF risk. ⋯ In addition, the zoledronate group had a lower SNVCF incidence compared with the groups treated with alendronate (P = .05), selective estrogen receptor modulators (P = .26), or risedronate (P = .22). This study showed that low BMD, presence of an intradiscal cement leak, and long-term steroid use were risk factors for developing SNVCFs following VP. Additionally, among osteoporosis treatments prescribed for VP, zoledronate may be the preferred choice to reduce the risk of SNVCFs.

Pulmonary cryptococcosis masquerading as lung metastasis in gynecologic cancers: Two case reports.
Pulmonary cryptococcal infections occur mainly in immunocompromised individuals, such as those with malignancies. Preoperative diagnosis of pulmonary cryptococcosis (PC) can be challenging for both clinicians and radiologists because of nonspecific clinical manifestations and variable radiologic features, as it is easily misdiagnosed as metastatic lung cancer. ⋯ Recognition that PC can mimic lung metastasis is important for managing gynecological cancers. PC should be considered in the differential diagnosis when single or multiple nodules are detected on chest radiography without elevation of tumor markers in patients with gynecological cancer.

While Chinese dance is a popular dance genre among Chinese teenagers and adults, little is known regarding the prevalence of dance-related injuries or factors associated with such injuries among Chinese dance practitioners. The current cross-sectional study aimed to determine the prevalence of dance-related injuries and their associated risk factors among young Chinese dance practitioners in Hong Kong. Online surveys were distributed to dancers through local dance associations, while paper-based surveys were distributed to young Chinese dance performers during the 54th School Dance Festival in Hong Kong. ⋯ Collectively, young Chinese dance practitioners are more vulnerable to dance-related injuries than are child dancers. Older age increases the risk of trunk injuries, whereas taller dancers are more likely to sustain lower-limb injuries. Future research should determine the mechanisms underlying dance-related injuries among these dancers.
