Laparoscopic treatment of colonic endometriosis causing periodic abdominal pain and hematochezia: A case report.
Endometriosis, a benign disease, has a malignant biological behavior and is highly prone to recurrence. Although gastrointestinal involvement is the most common site for extra-genital endometriosis, deep infiltrative endometriosis, which affects the mucosal layer, is very rare. ⋯ This case provides a rare example of sigmoid endometriosis causing periodic abdominal pain and Hematochezia. We report a clinical case to investigate the feasibility of an indocyanine green fluorescent contrast technique to guide the scope of surgery in laparoscopic deep infiltrative endometriosis surgery. In intestinal endometriosis surgery, indocyanine green fluoroscopy may indicate the lesion's precise localization.

Liddle syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by hypertension, hypokalemia, low aldosterone levels, and reduced renin activity. Atypical Liddle syndrome can be easily misdiagnosed due to its clinical phenotypes resembling hyperaldosteronism. ⋯ Some Liddle syndrome may present with normal aldosterone levels, genetic testing is necessary for the diagnosis. If the diagnostic test of primary aldosteronism is positive, but the treatment with spironolactone is ineffective, we should actively search for other causes.

Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) are currently considered first-line antihypertensive drugs, effectively inhibiting the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. However, ARBs have been associated with intraoperative hypotension during general anesthesia. Although it is recommended to discontinue ARBs for 24 hours before surgery, the optimal duration of discontinuation remains unclear. We present a severe refractory hypotension encountered during general anesthesia despite discontinuing ARBs for 48 hours before anesthesia. ⋯ Refractory hypotension induced by Angiotensin receptor blockers can still occur even after discontinuing the medication for 48 hours before induction of general anesthesia. Despite withholding the medication, caution should be practiced regarding hypotension during general anesthesia in patient taking ARBs.

To introduce a novel transverse connecting screw system, and to evaluate the biomechanical stability of the novel screw system using human cadaveric specimens. ⋯ The APTCS system was able to restore stability to the atlantoaxial joint. APTCS system has the advantages of easy installation, convenient bone grafting, and strong biomechanical strength.

The aims of this study were to determine the prevalence of frailty and its relationship with health outcomes in elderly outpatients attending a Diabetes Specialist Clinic. This study was a cross-sectional study. A total of 168 elderly patients (aged 65 years and above) attending the Diabetes Specialist Clinic of a Three-A hospital of Sichuan province were recruited from January 2021 to February 2021, and follow-up was conducted 1 year after day of screening. ⋯ Moreover, prefrail (OR = 3.37, 95% CI 2.31-5.72; P = .017) and frail (OR = 4.29, 95% CI 3.16-5.54; P = .006) patients were more likely to return to the clinic. There is a high incidence of frailty among elderly patients attending a Diabetes Specialist Clinic. Frailty is a predictor of hospitalization, fall, and clinic visits within 1 year.
