Atherosclerosis (AS) is the cause of most cardiovascular diseases and imposes a huge economic burden on society. Erchen decoction (ECD) is an effective formula for treating AS, but its therapeutic mechanism remains unclear. This study will explore the mechanism of ECD mechanism for treating AS using network pharmacology and molecular docking. ⋯ ECD has the characteristics of multi-components, multi-targets and multi-pathways in the treatment of AS. The results provide a theoretical basis for the clinical application of ECD and its mechanism.

The mesocortical tract (MCT) and mesolimbic tract (MLT) are reward dopaminergic tracts that have been shown to play a role in regulating reward stimuli, including both incentive salience and social stimuli. In the current study, we examined aging of the MCT and MLT in normal human participants to explain human brain structures using diffusion tensor tractography (DTT). Sixty-four healthy participants were recruited for this study and allocated to 3 groups based on participants' age. ⋯ The mean diffusivity values of the MCT and MLT were significantly higher in the old group than in the young and middle-aged groups (P < .05). The mean tract volume values of the MCT and MLT were significantly lower in the old group than in the young group (P < .05). We found that degenerative changes in the MCT and MLT began in participants in the 20s-30s, progressed steadily throughout life, and accelerated in the 60s.

Acute cerebral infarction, characterized by a rapid onset and high fatality rate, presents a significant global challenge in terms of timely and effective treatment. In recent years, research focusing on the combined approach of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medicine has demonstrated promising results in improving therapeutic outcomes in patients with acute cerebral infarction. ⋯ The findings of this study indicate that Wind Phlegm Obstruction syndrome, triglyceride levels, location of cerebral infarction, uric acid levels, and disease duration significantly influence the development and progression of acute cerebral infarction. Additionally, blood pressure and cerebral infarction site were found to have a statistically significant impact on the Wind Yang Disturbance syndrome. Uric acid level and blood pressure were also identified as statistically significant factors. Moreover, total cholesterol and homocysteine levels were found to significantly affect phlegm stasis-blocking collateral syndrome. The insights gained from this study will contribute to the advancement of integrated treatment approaches, combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine, for acute cerebral infarction. Furthermore, these findings can serve as a valuable reference for the general population in terms of preventive measures against this condition.

To investigate the effect of Vertebral augmentation (VA) in the treatment of single-level osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs) on new vertebral fractures. ⋯ VA is associated with an increased risk of new vertebral fractures and adjacent vertebral fractures following single-level OVCFs. With longer follow-ups, new vertebral fractures may be more significant. Clinical surgeons should pay attention to long-term postoperative complications and choose treatment carefully.

Long-term changes of standing balance after lateral ankle sprain using Footscan system: A case report.
A lateral ankle sprain (LAS) is a common sports related injury. Ankle instability and balance impairment after injury are common. This case report describes the longitudinal changes in static balance after LAS. ⋯ In this case, it was objectively confirmed that standing balance was restored naturally after LAS.
