Caudal epidural block (CEB), which injects drugs into the epidural space through a sacral hiatus, is considered a safer alternative to other approaches. Serious complications, such as cauda equina syndrome or spinal cord infarction, have been reported very rarely, but their coexistence after CEB, which may be related to the ruptured perineural cyst, also known as a Tarlov cyst, was not reported. ⋯ Magnetic resonance imaging, including the sacral area, should be performed before performing CEB, to confirm the presence of a perineural cyst.

Treatment of deformed pelvic and acetabular fractures is a considerable challenge for orthopedic surgeons. The aim of this study was to assess the availability of a three-dimensional (3D) printing model used in patients with inveterate pelvic and acetabular fractures by comparing 3D printing technology with conventional surgery. We conducted a retrospective review of patients with inveterate pelvic and acetabular fractures treated in our department between January 2008 and June 2020. ⋯ Patients in the case group also showed better pain relief according to visual analog scale scores. However, the elevations in pelvis and hip joint functional outcomes were similar between the 2 groups, and no significant difference was shown in the radiological result. The usage of 3D printing techniques in patients with inveterate pelvic and acetabular fractures is of great importance in preoperative preparation and optimization of surgery but cannot improve postoperative function compared with conventional treatment.

To select an optimal treatment, it is crucial to evaluate the risk of lymph node metastasis (LNM) in patients with superficial esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SESCC). The research aimed to explore more risk factors than before and construct a practical nomogram to predict LNM in patients with SESCC. We retrospectively reviewed 1080 patients diagnosed with esophageal cancer who underwent esophagectomy with lymphadenectomy between January 2013 and October 2021 at the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University. ⋯ Hypertriglyceridemia, tumors located in the lower thoracic esophagus, lesion size > 20 mm, submucosal invasion, and LVI were independent risk factors for LNM. A nomogram was constructed using these 5 factors. This model can help clinicians assess the risk of LNM in patients with SESCC for optimal treatment selection.

Breast cancer (BC) is the most commonly diagnosed malignancy in women around the world. Accumulating evidence suggests that transient receptor potential (TRP) channels play a significant role in tumor progression and immune cell infiltration. Hence, we conducted the study to investigate the correlation between TRP-associated lncRNAs and the prognosis of breast carcinoma. ⋯ The outcomes of the current study indicated that the 12-TRP-associated-lncRNA risk model was an independent prognostic risk factor for BC patients. This risk model could be closely related to the tumor immune microenvironment in BC. Our findings will provide new insights for future immunotherapy for BC treatment.

This study aimed to investigate the angelica sinensis - radix rehmanniae (AR) role in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), employing network pharmacology and molecular docking techniques for active ingredient, targets, and pathway prediction. AR active components were obtained through TCMSP platform and literature search. The related targets of AR and PCOS were obtained through the disease and Swiss Target Prediction databases. ⋯ AR can improve hyperandrogen status, regulate glucose homeostasis, and correct lipid metabolism and other physiological processes through multi-component, multi-target, and multi-pathway. Thus, it could play a significant role in PCOS treatment. The results of our study provide a scientific foundation for basic research and clinical applications of AR for the treatment of PCOS.
