The aim of this study was to evaluate the difference in D-dimer (D-D) combined with the platelet lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) before treatment in small cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients receiving first-line treatment and to analyze the efficacy and prognosis. We retrospectively collected the records of SCLC patients treated in our hospital from February 2019 to January 2023 and finally included 100 patients. A binary logistic regression analysis method was applied to analyze the relationship between D-D, PLR, and NLR and short-term efficacy. ⋯ Pretreatment PLR is an independent predictor of short-term efficacy in SCLC patients. Pretreatment D-D, PLR and NLR are potential biochemical markers for predicting the prognosis of SCLC patients treated with first-line treatment. When D-D is combined with PLR and NLR, it shows stronger predictive ability.

Gender authorship trends have been explored in varied medical specialties, and no study had observed in the field of gastric cancer. Therefore, we aimed to access whether the "gender gap" in authorship existed in gastric cancer in the leading gastroenterological journals over the last 2 decades. All original articles published from 2000 to 2020 in 9 leading gastroenterological journals were collected. ⋯ Multivariable logistic analysis showed that female first authors demonstrated a higher percentage when senior authors were female (odds ratio, 2.040; 95% confidence interval, 1.105-3.769). Although a statistically ascending tendency in female first authors on gastric cancer has been going on over the last 20 years, the exorbitant gender gap still exists. This gap may help explain the continued underrepresentation of women within both clinical work and academic research, and prompt us to look further for the underlying causes.

Oxeiptosis is a recently discovered caspase-independent, non-inflammatory programmed cell death modality. Current studies suggest that oxeiptosis has crucial effects on biological processes in a variety of diseases. However, the mechanism of oxeiptosis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unclear and no relevant studies have been published. ⋯ Finally, we found CD4 + T-cell exhaustion in samples with specific molecular phenotypes. Through multi-omics analysis of OCGs, we not only revealed the possible molecular mechanisms of OCGs in HCC but also provided a prognostic prediction system for clinical application through molecular typing and risk scoring model. Meanwhile, we found immune escape mechanisms in HCC.

Desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT) is a rare malignant tumor with poor prognosis, usually involving the peritoneum. There are currently no standardized treatment approaches. This study helped to further advance our understanding of DSRCT, and help to guide therapy. ⋯ The reported case has raised awareness of the importance of DSRCT in the treatment of chemotherapy, including its role in the differential diagnosis of abdominal tumors.

Phantom absences refer to mild and short-lasting absence seizures, which are usually accompanied by infrequent generalized tonic-clonic seizures and absence status. Generally, phantom absences do not impair the individual neurological functions. Herein, we report the case of a young woman with idiopathic generalized epilepsy, phantom absences, absence status, and generalized tonic-clonic seizures. ⋯ Idiopathic generalized epilepsy with phantom absences, absence status, and generalized tonic-clonic seizures is an extremely rare condition. EEG is the exclusive method for diagnosis. Antiepileptic drugs are effective for controlling epileptic seizures in this disease.
