Sevoflurane is a new inhaled anesthetic, which has better physical properties than the existing inhalational anesthetics, rapid induction, less tissue uptake, and faster recovery. Sevoflurane can directly dilators cerebral blood vessels and increase cerebral blood flow, but it also reduces cerebral oxygen metabolism rate, thereby reducing cerebral blood flow. However, the role of Fgf2 and Ptpn11 in cerebral injury caused by sevoflurane anesthesia remains unclear. ⋯ Gene Expression Heatmap showed that the core genes (Fgf2, Pdgfra, Ptpn11, Slc2a1) were highly expressed in sevoflurane anesthesia brain tissue samples. CTD Analysis showed that the 4 core genes (Fgf2, Pdgfra, Ptpn11, Slc2a1) were associated with neurodegenerative diseases, brain injuries, memory disorders, cognitive disorders, neurotoxicity, drug-induced abnormalities, neurological disorders, developmental disorders, and intellectual disabilities. Fgf2 and Ptpn11 are highly expressed in brain tissue after sevoflurane anesthesia, higher the expression level of Fgf2 and Ptpn11, worse the prognosis.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease of the colonic mucosa. Esculetin is a type of natural coumarin that has many pharmacological activities such as antioxidant, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, etc. A previous study showed that esculetin improved intestinal inflammation and reduced serum proinflammatory cytokines in UC. ⋯ The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analysis results showed that the top signaling pathway associated with the core genes of esculetin against UC was the prolactin (PRL) signaling pathway. Molecular docking results showed that esculetin has a strong binding affinity to the core genes, as well as PRL and prolactin receptor. This study suggests that esculetin may have a crucial impact on UC through the PRL signaling pathway and provides insights into the potential mechanism of esculetin in the treatment of UC, which may shed light on the mechanism and treatment of UC.

Soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR) is an inflammatory biomarker that is used to predict mortality, readmission, early discharge, and LOS, thus, serves as a useful tool for ED physicians. Our study aims to analyze the efficacy of suPAR in predicting these prognostic markers in ED. ⋯ suPAR is proven to be a significant marker in predicting 30-day and 90-day mortality in ED patients.

Association of noncoding RNAs with Kawasaki disease: A meta-analysis based on the current evidences.
In recent years, many studies have focused on the relationship between noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) and Kawasaki disease (KD). Studies have indicated that ncRNAs are associated with the occurrence and development of KD. Thus, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the diagnostic value of ncRNAs in KD patients. ⋯ This systematic review and meta-analysis demonstrated that ncRNAs could be used as novel biomarkers for detecting KD. More studies should be conducted in the future to verify the diagnostic values of ncRNAs in KD.

CAPSULaser - a new modality in the portfolio of cataract surgeons.
To assess the efficiency and safety of capsulorhexis with CAPSULaser in comparison with standard capsulorhexis performed manually by emerging and established surgeons. Specialized Eye Hospital-Varna Bulgaria. Prospective, randomized, non-masked study. ⋯ The size of the "laser" CCC was planned to be 5.3 and ended up with a minimum of 5.4 in 4 weeks; however, no lens prolapse from the CCC was observed. Utilization of the CAPSULaser in cataract surgery is easy and achievable for surgeons at any stage of their careers and provides controlled, well-centered capsulorhexis with no more adverse events than conventional surgery. The limitations are the requirement for a minimal pupil size of 6 mm, a deep anterior chamber, and a transparent cornea.
