Especially in recent years, temporal muscle thickness has been used as an important parameter for sarcopenia in neurological disorders. In addition, triglyceride glucose index was evaluated separately in studies conducted in terms of coronary diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, body mass index and acute stroke. In this clinical study, unlike the others, both temporal muscle thickness and triglyceride glucose index were evaluated together in acute stroke patients in terms of sarcopenia. ⋯ Sensitivity value was 91.18%, specificity value was 13%, PPV value was 26.96% and NPV value was 81%. Temporal muscle thickness and triglyceride glucose index parameters were found to be statistically important parameters of sarcopenia. It was concluded that the evaluation of these 2 parameters in terms of both mortality and sarcopenia in acute stroke patients is important in the evaluation of neurological and cardiac disorders.

The effectiveness and safety of herbal medicine on suicidal behavior: A PRISMA-compliant systematic review and meta-analysis.
Suicide is the leading cause of death worldwide. Herbal medicine (HM) has been reported to be related to clinical improvement of some risk factors for suicide including depression. This systematic review aimed to comprehensively investigate the effectiveness and safety of HM on suicidal behaviors. ⋯ Though some of the studies reported significant benefits of HM in improving suicidal behavior in patients with depression, further clarification on some unsolved questions is needed in future well-designed clinical trials.

Systematic evaluation of the efficacy and safety of conservative hemodynamic cure for venous insufficiency (CHIVA) compared with high ligation and stripping (HLS) in the treatment of varicose veins of lower extremities. ⋯ By comparison, it is found that CHIVA has shorter operation time, less blood loss, and fewer surgical incisions. Patients who underwent CHIVA surgery had shorter hospital stays and lower relapse rates. In terms of complications, the incidence of total complications after CHIVA is lower, and the incidence of postoperative deep vein thrombosis, postoperative sensory, nerve injury, and postoperative hematoma is also lower than that of HLS.

Spinal tuberculosis or TB spondylitis is one of the most common types of extra pulmonary tuberculosis, which is about 15% of all cases. It causes severe morbidity, neurological deficits, and severe deformities in the patients. The growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in culture specimens obtained from infected tissue is the single gold standard diagnostic test for spinal TB. ⋯ Similar trend were analyzed on the motor neurologic status with TLR2 levels in paraparesis were significantly higher than those in normal (P < .05). There is a significant relationship between the TLR2 levels in TB spondylitis and their impaired motor and sensory function. Spinal destruction has been shown to provide significant relationship with TLR2 value in spondylitis TB.

Review Case Reports
A case report of phacolytic glaucoma in lens cortex behind posterior capsule: A CARE-compliant article.
Phacolytic glaucoma (PLG), a secondary open-angle glaucoma caused by high molecular weight proteins leaking through the capsule of a hypermature cataract. Leakage of liquefied lens cortex behind the posterior capsule is rare. In this paper, we review a case of phacolytic glaucoma in the lens cortex behind posterior capsule. ⋯ This case reported a patient with phacolytic glaucoma in the lens cortex behind posterior capsule who underwent successful surgery, indicating spontaneous capsule rupture can occur in the posterior capsules in PLG and when this situation is detected during the operation, the posterior capsule tearing method can be applied to absorb the lens cortex sticking at the posterior surface of the posterior capsule.
