To explore the material basis of action of the Shuang Bai Su Qing recipe in the treatment of periodontitis using network pharmacology. ⋯ The mechanism underlying the treatment of periodontitis with the recipe formula may be closely related to multiple targets in the MAPK signaling pathway.

Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis is a benign, inflammatory disease of breasts characterized by non-caseating granulomas. Our study aims to identify distinguishing clinical and histopathological features of relapsing disease compared to those in complete remission. We queried databases at our institution (1990-2021) to include females ≥18 years with biopsy-proven diagnosis of idiopathic granulomatous mastitis, excluding patients with breast cancer, lymphoproliferative disorders, solid organ malignancy, foreign body reaction in breast, plasma cell mastitis, and ductal ectasia. ⋯ Three (33%) patients with relapse and 14 (77%) with remission, had abscess formation confirmed on histopathology (P = .04). Patients with remission had a higher number of abscesses on histopathology and history of oral contraceptive use was associated with more relapse. By identifying key clinical and histopathological findings in this population may guide prognosis and treatment of these patients.

In order to investigate the potential link between Alzheimer's disease (AD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD), we conducted a comprehensive analysis using a bioinformatics approach. We downloaded AD and CKD datasets from the Gene Expression Omnibus database and analyzed differentially expressed genes and weighted gene co-expression networks to identify candidate genes for AD and CKD. We used a combination of the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator and random forest algorithms to select the shared genes. ⋯ Our scRNA-sequencing data showed that the 3 shared genes in AD were significantly expressed in astrocytes, excitatory neurons, oligodendrocytes, and MAIT cells. The 3 shared genes in CKD were significantly expressed in oligodendrocytes, neutrophils, fibroblasts, astrocytes, and T-cells. JunD Proto-Oncogene, ALF transcription elongation factor 1, and ZFP36 Ring Finger Protein Like 1 genes are the best diagnostic markers for AD and CKD.

To develop and validate 3 radiomics nomograms for preoperative prediction of pathological and progression diagnosis in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) as well as circulating tumor cells (CTCs). A total of 224 and 134 patients diagnosed with NSCLC were respectively gathered in 2018 and 2019 in this study. There were totally 1197 radiomics features that were extracted and quantified from the images produced by computed tomography. ⋯ Additionally, decision curve analyses demonstrated the clinically usefulness of the nomograms. We developed radiomics-based nomograms for pathological, progression and CTC diagnosis prediction in NSCLC respectively. Nomograms for pathological and progression diagnosis were demonstrated well-performed to facilitate the individualized preoperative prediction, while the nomogram for CTC-diagnosis prediction needed improvement.

Spinal tuberculosis or TB spondylitis is one of the most common types of extra pulmonary tuberculosis, which is about 15% of all cases. It causes severe morbidity, neurological deficits, and severe deformities in the patients. The growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in culture specimens obtained from infected tissue is the single gold standard diagnostic test for spinal TB. ⋯ Similar trend were analyzed on the motor neurologic status with TLR2 levels in paraparesis were significantly higher than those in normal (P < .05). There is a significant relationship between the TLR2 levels in TB spondylitis and their impaired motor and sensory function. Spinal destruction has been shown to provide significant relationship with TLR2 value in spondylitis TB.
