Osteosarcoma is one of the most prevalent primary malignant bone tumors that affects teenagers more than adults. In recent years, artificial femoral replacement has become more and more common. The use of artificial total femoral replacement surgery prevents the need for amputating the damaged limb, preserves the patient's ability to move and bear weight on the leg, lessens the severity of the psychological trauma, and significantly raises the patient's quality of life. ⋯ Visual analog scale score at 3 months after surgery and the quality-of-life scores were 3.68 ± 1.39 and 40.04 ± 4.31, respectively, which were significantly improved compared to before surgery (5.94 ± 1.19 and 22.42 ± 3.63, respectively, P < .05). At the last interview, Musculoskeletal Tumor Society score is scored from 18 to 29 points, average 22.5 ± 5.9 points, and Harris hip score is scored from 42 to 90 points, with an average score of 69.0 ± 14.7. Artificial total femoral replacement is an effective limb salvage operation in the treatment of osteosarcoma.

The morbidity of tsutsugamushi is increasing and is no longer limited to endemic areas. Delayed diagnosis and inappropriate treatment can cause severe complications and increase mortality rates. We conducted a retrospective case series of patients with scrub typhus at our institution to report our experience and discuss the diagnostic modalities. ⋯ After 3 days of specific treatment, the eosinophilic levels showed a recovery trend. Twenty (95%) patients fully recovered, and 1 (5%) died. Careful physical examination and medical history are important for the early diagnosis of scrub typhus; clinicians in non-endemic areas need to strengthen their understanding of scrub typhus.

Emergency treatment of airway obstruction caused by a laryngeal neuroendocrine tumor: A case report.
Laryngeal obstruction is a life-threatening adverse event that requires urgent and appropriate management, particularly in patients with coexisting cardiopulmonary and brain comorbidities. However, laryngeal obstruction caused by laryngeal neuroendocrine tumors has rarely been reported. ⋯ 1. Introduction; 2. Case presentation; 3. Discussion; 4. Conclusion.

Inflammasomes are closely associated with the progression of multiple cancers. We established an inflammasome-related gene (IRG)-based model to predict the survival of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The RNA-sequencing data and clinical information of HCC patients were downloaded from the cancer genome atlas-liver hepatocellular carcinoma database, and the differentially expressed inflammasome-related gene were screened. ⋯ The IRG model was significantly associated with cell division and cell cycle. In addition, the high-risk group was more likely to have greater infiltration of immune cells and higher expression of immune checkpoint-related genes compared to the low-risk group. An IRG-based model was established to predict 1-, 2-, 3-, and 5-year survival rate in individual HCC patients, which provides new insights into the role of inflammasomes in HCC.

Delirium is one of the most common geriatric syndromes in older patients, accounting for 25% of hospitalized older patients, 31 to 35% of patients in the intensive care unit, and 8% to 17% of older patients in the emergency department (ED). A number of articles have been published in the literature regarding delirium. However, it is unclear about article citations evolving in the field. This study proposed a temporal heatmap (THM) that can be applied to all bibliographical studies for a better understanding of cited articles worth reading. ⋯ The THM and IBP were proposed to highlight articles worth reading, and we recommend that more future bibliographical studies utilize the 2 visualizations and not restrict them solely to delirium-related articles in the future.
