Bladder cancer ranked the second most frequent tumor among urological malignancies. This work investigated bladder cancer prognosis, including the relevance of pyroptosis-related long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) in it and its potential roles. The Cancer Genome Atlas database offered statistics on lncRNAs and clinical data from 411 bladder cancer patients. ⋯ The nomogram prediction effect is excellent, with a concordance index of 0.86. The 11-lncRNAs signature was associated with the supervision of oxidative stress, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, cell adhesion, TGF-β, and Wingless and INT-1 signaling pathway, according to the gene set enrichment analysis. Our findings indicate that pyroptosis-related lncRNAs, which may affect tumor pathogenesis in many ways, might be exploited to assess the prognosis of bladder cancer patients.

Granular cell tumors are rare soft tissue neoplasms derived from nerve that can arise in the oral cavity, skin, or gastrointestinal tract. Various hypotheses have proposed that granular cell tumors originate from the nervous system, skeletal muscle, and Schwann cells. ⋯ In microscopic observations, granular cell tumors do not have a defined boundary with surrounding tissues, and they display an infiltrating pattern that can expand to adjacent tissue. As a result, the tumor should be removed with a sufficient margin, including the normal tissues surrounding it. The authors experienced granular cell tumor in the muscle layer of the head and neck. It could be treated without recurrence through extensive surgical resection and local flap.

To use network pharmacology and bioinformatics technology to reveal the mechanism of persicae semen-carthami flos drug pair in the treatment of renal fibrosis (RF). Compounds in traditional Chinese medicine were obtained through the Herb database. Appropriate compounds and corresponding drug targets were screened out based on the 5 rules of Lipinski and pharmacokinetics. ⋯ Molecular docking showed that the traditional Chinese medicine compounds had good binding ability to the target. Persicae semen and carthami flos play a role in the treatment of RF through multiple targets and multiple pathways. It provides ideas and references for follow-up research and new drug development.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been hypothesized to have important roles in the etiology of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the synergistic effect of circRNA and lncRNA in the pathogenesis of HCC has rarely been studied. ⋯ We have discovered that the prognosis-related lncRNAs/circRNAs-miRNA-mRNA network plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of HCC. These findings may offer fresh perspectives for further research into the pathogenesis of HCC and the search for novel treatments for HCC.

Smoking negatively affects the prognosis of periodontal disease by impairing tissue healing. While micronucleus is the most popular parameter for demonstrating DNA damage, inflammatory cell and vascular densities are the most evaluated parameters for determining histopathologic changes in the periodontium. This study aimed to study the effects of periodontitis and cigarette smoking on genotoxic changes in exfoliated oral epithelial cells and histopathologic changes in periodontal tissue. ⋯ The most intense inflammatory cell and vascular densities occurred in SGP and NGP groups, respectively; and the mildest values were in healthy periodontium groups. Histopathological damage score decreased significantly by group in order SGP > NGP > SHP > NHP. The synergy arising from the combination of smoking and periodontitis exposures exacerbates genotoxic and histopathologic damage in oral cells and the periodontium.
