Angle-closure glaucoma secondary to iridocorneal endothelial syndrome (ICE) is challenging to treat, especially in patients who have already undergone multiple surgical procedures. Long-term success is difficult to achieve with traditional filtration surgery again. This case report describes a novel nonbleb-dependent surgery for managing such a young patient. ⋯ Penetrating canaloplasty could be considered as an option for the treatment of refractory angle-closure glaucoma secondary to ICE with extensive angle adhesion.

Basal cell carcinoma of the umbilicus associated with sweat gland structures: Two case reports.
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) arising in the umbilicus is relatively rare, and in particular, there have been few reports mentioning peritumoral sweat gland structures histopathologically. We herein, report 2 cases of umbilical BCC with sweat gland structures within and around the tumor. ⋯ We herein report 2 cases of umbilical BCC with sweat glands and ducts. Although whether peri- and/or intra-tumor sweat gland structures are the source of the tumor or arise by transdifferentiation from tumor cells remains unclear, these findings may provide clues to help understand the morphopathogenesis of umbilical BCC in the future.

The primary objective was to investigate the epidemiology, molecular characteristics, and clinical survival to identify potential transcriptome biomarkers to promote early diagnosis and screening of triple-negative breast cancer patients. Early-stage triple-negative breast cancer patients (E-TNBC) and late-stage triple-negative breast cancer patients (L-TNBC) were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database from 2010 to 2019. The difference in cancer specific survival (CSS) and overall survival (OS) between E-TNBC and L-TNBC was analyzed via a Kaplan-Meier plotter. 118 triple-negative breast cancer samples and 114 normal samples with the RNA sequencing expression data were selected from the cohort of TCGA breast cancer from UCSC Xena Database. ⋯ And the top 5 downregulated genes were, respectively, CTAG1B, CT45A1, MAGEC2, TFF2, and TNFRSF11B. The L-TNBC exhibited a lower rate of survival than E-TNBC, and the 2 groups differed in terms of transcriptome characteristics. To date, the diagnostic value of T cell-mediated tumor killing portraits on E-TNBC may not be completely recognized.

Inflammasomes are closely associated with the progression of multiple cancers. We established an inflammasome-related gene (IRG)-based model to predict the survival of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The RNA-sequencing data and clinical information of HCC patients were downloaded from the cancer genome atlas-liver hepatocellular carcinoma database, and the differentially expressed inflammasome-related gene were screened. ⋯ The IRG model was significantly associated with cell division and cell cycle. In addition, the high-risk group was more likely to have greater infiltration of immune cells and higher expression of immune checkpoint-related genes compared to the low-risk group. An IRG-based model was established to predict 1-, 2-, 3-, and 5-year survival rate in individual HCC patients, which provides new insights into the role of inflammasomes in HCC.

Giant meningioma stemming from the intraventricular zone has been reported to be extremely few. Two cases of supersize (>8 cm) intraventricular meningiomas presenting with cystic lesions and their clinical characteristics were collected in our study. ⋯ Cystic lesions may indicate the histopathologic malignancy of intraventricular meningioma. Transcortical approach through the posterior temporal lobe or the parieto-occipital lobe is an effective technology for giant intraventricular meningiomas.
