Inflammatory conditions play part in the progression of malignancies, and markers signifying growth of these factors can indicate prognosis. Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte (NLR) is used as a marker of subclinical inflammation that may become an integral part of workup to indicate prognosis and associated pathology. This study aims to explore the association of NLR ratio with clinical characteristics, radiological assessment and staging, histopathology, and disease outcomes of breast cancer. ⋯ However, NLR was not found predictable of disease-free survival (P = .160). Significant predictors of disease-free survival were histological grading, ER, PR status, molecular subtype, and Ki67 proliferation index. NLR being a readily available marker has shown novel findings in its association with tumor staging, disease outcomes and characteristics of breast malignancy.

Gastric malignancies constitute the sixth most common cancer with regards to incidence and have the fifth most mortality rates. Extended lymph-node dissection is the surgical modality of choice while treating advanced stage gastric cancer. It is yet a topic of debate, whether or not the amount of positive lymph nodes after a pathological examination following the surgical intervention is of prognostic value. ⋯ We calculated cutoff value of 0.09 with, sensitivity is 76.32% for positive to total number of lymph nodes ratio, whereas specivity applies for 64.10%, positive predictive value for 58% and negative predictive value for 80.6%. Positive lymph node ratio has a prognostic value in terms of predicting the prognosis of the patients with gastric adenocarcinoma following a curative gastrectomy. This might in long term contribute to the prognostic analysis of patients if integrated in the current staging system.

Two cases of spontaneous rupture of the uterine artery in the perinatal period: A case report.
Uterine artery spontaneous rupture is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication during pregnancy and puerperium. The lack of typical symptoms makes it difficult to diagnose, which can result in serious consequences for both the mother and fetus. ⋯ Uterine artery spontaneous rupture is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication that may present with atypical symptoms. Early diagnosis and prompt surgical intervention are crucial in preventing serious complications for both the mother and fetus. Clinicians should maintain a high level of suspicion for this condition when evaluating patients presenting with unexplained symptoms or signs of peritoneal irritation during pregnancy and puerperium.

Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare progressive disease affecting multiple systems. It has recently been recognized as a neoplastic disease following the discovery of activating mutations in the MAPK pathway. There are several striking signs of ECD, such as the long bone involvement, as well as the hairy kidney appearance on computed tomography scan. It is rare for ECD to manifest neurological symptoms. Central nervous system involvement is a strong prognostic factor and independent predictor of death. ECD is characterized by the overproduction and accumulation of foamy histiocytes and Touton's giant cells in various tissues and organs. ECD is a multisystem disorder in which any organ may be affected. ⋯ ECD patient with neuro-endocrine symptoms.

Osteoporosis (OP) is one of the major public health problems in the world. However, the biomarkers between the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMs) and bone tissue for prognosis of OP have not been well characterized. This study aimed to explore the similarities and differences of the gene expression profiles between the PBMs and bone tissue and identify potential genes, transcription factors (TFs) and hub proteins involved in OP. ⋯ Finally, 5 key TFs were identified by TF-DEGs regulation networks analysis (CREB1, RUNX1, STAT3, CREBBP, and GLI1) and were supposed to be associated with OP. This study enhanced our understanding of the pathogenesis of OP. PI3K1, GNB5, FPR2, GNG13, and PLCG1 might be the potential targets of OP.
