The authors investigated whether there is an association between angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor (ACEI)/angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) users with hemorrhoids. A total of 21,670 ACEI users and 21,670 ARB users during 2000 - 2012 from a national health insurance database were included. Hemorrhoid incidences were monitored to the end of 2013. ⋯ The adjusted hazard ratio of hemorrhoids in patients who received ACEI relative to those who received ARB was 0.83 (95% confidence intervals [CI] = 0.75, 0.92). Compared to ARB users, patients who used ACEI more than 740 days per year (adjusted hazard ratios = 0.44; 95% CI = 0.36, 0.54) and more than 7800 mg (adjusted hazard ratios = 0.54; 95% CI = 0.46, 0.65) had a lower risk of hemorrhoids. ACEI users who took a relatively long period or high cumulative dosage were found to less prone to develop hemorrhoids.

Fracture is a global public health disease. Bone health and fracture risk have become the focus of public and scientific attention. Observational studies have reported that tea consumption is associated with fracture risk, but the results are inconsistent. ⋯ The inverse variance weighted indicated no causal effects of tea consumption on fractures of the skull and face, shoulder and upper arm, hand and wrist, femur, calf, and ankle (odds ratio = 1.000, 1.000, 1.002, 0.997, 0.998; P = .881, 0.857, 0.339, 0.054, 0.569, respectively). Consistent results were also found in MR-Egger, weighted median, and weighted mode. Our research provided evidence that tea consumption is unlikely to affect the incidence of fractures.

The molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) remain unclear. This study aimed to identify key molecules involved in the pathogenesis and progression of POP. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified based on gene expression data extracted from the GSE53868, GSE28660, and GSE12852 datasets in the gene expression omnibus database. ⋯ The abundance of CD8-positive T cells was negatively correlated with that of follicular helper T cells (Pearson correlation coefficient = -0.34, P < .01) or gamma delta T cells (Pearson correlation coefficient = -0.33, P < .01). But was positively correlated with that of M2 macrophages (Pearson correlation coefficient = 0.35, P < .01) and activated memory CD4 T cells (Pearson correlation coefficient = 0.34, P < .01). Altogether, PPARG, ADAMTS4, ADIPOQ, AREG, CD36, and Cell death-inducing DNA fragmentation factor-like effector A genes were discovered in the POP process for the first time, which should be intensively investigated.

Workplace-disruptive behavior is an important public and organizational health issue that calls for public discourse. The high rates in Nigeria and its associated career illogical assumptions among teachers brought about this study to investigate the impact of rational emotive occupational health coaching (REOHC) on irrational career beliefs and workplace deviant behaviors in a sample of Nigerian primary school teachers. ⋯ This study concluded that primary school teachers' work-related deviant behaviors and illogical beliefs were reduced as a result of the REOHC treatment. Therefore, occupational therapists should help teachers with deviant behaviors and irrational beliefs to change using rational emotive behavioral techniques.

This study aimed to evaluate changes in the number and clinical characteristics of patients with acute acquired concomitant esotropia (AACE) over the course of 8 years. This retrospective study enrolled patients with AACE who visited our clinic between July 2014 and June 2022. The total study period was divided into 4 periods in chronological order. ⋯ The mean age of patients who underwent surgery was lower than that of patients who did not (P = .005). The number of patients with AACE has been increasing over time. Patients who underwent surgical treatment showed more ocular deviation and were younger at the initial visit than patients who did not.
