A minimal number of studies have documented the impact of Vestibular rehabilitation (VR) on the recovery rate of patients with bilateral vestibular hypofunction (BVH). ⋯ A twelve-week structured VR program may enhance severity of dizziness, kinesiophobia, balance, quality of sleep, ADL and QoL in participants with chronic BVH.

Acute aortic dissection (AAD) is a serious and life-threatening cardiovascular emergency. This study aim to investigate whether MicroRNAs (miRNAs)in circulating exosomes could serve as novel diagnostic biomarkers for AAD. ⋯ Serum exosomal miR-499a-5p, miR-143-3p, and miR-202-3p can be used as potential diagnostic biomarkers for AAD, and the combination of various markers can coordinate and complement each other, and can significantly improve the diagnosis of aortic dissection sensitivity and specificity.

This retrospective study aims to identify the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) (C677T, A1298C), methionine synthase reductase (MTRR) (A66G) and ethnic distribution characteristics in pregnant women, and to explore the risk correlation with folate metabolism. The demographic data of 8735 pregnant women aged 15 to 47 years were retrospectively analyzed, and peripheral blood samples were collected and tested. Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction was applied to determine the genotype and allele frequency of MTHFR C677T, A1298C and MTRR A66G in blood samples. ⋯ The frequency distribution of SNPs in different ethnic groups revealed that the frequency of CT genotype among the MTHFR C677T locus, AA genotype among the MTHFR A1298C locus and the MTRR A66G locus was the highest in Han, Buyi, Miao and Dong ethnic groups. The results of logistic regression analysis showed that the Han, Buyi, Miao and other ethnic groups (including Yi, Bai, Zhuang, Chuanqing) had the possibility of increasing the risk levels of folate metabolism. The CC genotype of MTHFR C677T (adjusted OR = 2.46, 95% CI: 2.14-2.84, P < .001) and the AG genotype of MTRR A66G (adjusted OR = 1.89, 95% CI: 1.61-2.22, P < .001) were significantly related to the risk levels of folate metabolism, which is an independent risk factor for the susceptibility of folate metabolism.

Small intestinal hemangioma is a rare condition and very difficult to diagnose preoperatively. It can occur in all segments of the small intestine, but jejunum is common. Its common symptoms are gastrointestinal bleeding and chronic anemia, while intussusception, intestinal obstruction and perforation are rare. In recent years, the popularization and application of capsule endoscopy, computed tomographic enterography and double-balloon enteroscopy play vital roles in the diagnosis and management of small bowel bleeding. We report a case of gastrointestinal hemorrhage caused by of the small intestine hemangioma. ⋯ Small intestinal hemangioma is a rare condition without specific symptoms and can cause gastrointestinal bleeding. The possibility of small intestinal hemangioma should be considered with unexplained gastrointestinal bleeding. Surgical resection is the preferred treatment option for symptomatic hemangiomas. Furthermore, double-balloon enteroscopy can increase the diagnostic yield. Applying endoscopic titanium clip combined with Indian ink marking can obtain an accurate positioning before surgery.

The aim of this study is to utilize ultrasound to evaluate the normal cross-sectional area (CSA) of the phrenic nerve (PN), at the level of the anterior scalene muscle. The study included 62 PNs in 31 healthy subjects (13 men, 18 women); mean age, 36.6 years; mean height, 161.1 cm; mean weight, 69.6 kg; and mean body mass index 25.8 kg/m2. High-resolution ultrasound images of the bilateral PNs were obtained by a radiologist with 15 years of experience in neuromusculoskeletal ultrasound. ⋯ We believe that the reference values for the normal CSA of the PNs obtained in our study could help in the sonographic evaluation of PN enlargement, as it relates to the diagnosis of various diseases affecting the PN. Furthermore, knowledge of its location and size, at the level of the scalene muscle, could help prevent PN-related complications during interventional procedures in that area. Additionally, for each participant, demographic information of age and gender as well as body mass index, weight, and height were documented.
