The efficacy of Chinese herbal ointment in treating perianal eczema: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Traditional Chinese herbal ointment has significant curative effect and few side effects in the treatment of perianal eczema (PE). Currently, there is no systematic evaluation on the treatment of PE with traditional Chinese medicine ointment. The current aim is to systematically evaluate the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine ointment in the treatment of PE through meta-analysis. ⋯ A total of 11 articles were included in this study for meta-analysis, and the results showed that Chinese medicine ointment is more helpful in improving the skin lesion area and skin damage form, significantly improve the response rate and cure rate, reduce the recurrence rate. Chinese herbal ointment has guiding significance for clinical practice which deserve to use ointments by further experimental and clinical investigation.

The presence of malignant pleural effusion in lung cancer patients often suggests a poor prognosis. We plan to investigate which regimen of vascular targeting drug is preferable to control the malignant pleural effusion in such patients. ⋯ Our findings suggest that no statistical significance between above vascular targeting regimens. Pathological type of lung cancer may affect the effect of bevacizumab intracavity infusion plus chemotherapy. The influence of different administration routes of vascular targeting drugs on efficacy remains to be investigated. There are some concerns with the quality of the studies, and some limitations should be considered when interpreting these results, which includes limited geographical region and sample size of studies. Despite these limitations, this study may inform vascular targeting therapy choice in such a patient population.

Risk factors of infection among close contacts of COVID-19: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was first detected in December 2019, and declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11, 2020. The current management of COVID-19 is based generally on supportive therapy and treatment to prevent respiratory failure. ⋯ Family members and gender differences are the risk factors of infection among close contacts, and it cannot be proved that there are differences in infection among frequent contact, advanced age, and living together.

Effects of different exercise modalities on lipid profile in the elderly population: A meta-analysis.
Dyslipidemia, characterized by elevated total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), as well as decreased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), has long been recognized as a major risk factor for age-related diseases. Recent studies have shown that exercise can be effective in mitigating dyslipidemia in older adults. The aim of this study was to systematically evaluate the effects of different exercise modalities (aerobic exercise [AE], resistance exercise [RE], aerobic+resistance exercise [AE+RE], and high-intensity interval training) on lipid profile in the elderly population, in order to identify the most effective exercise modality for maintaining lipid profile health in older adults. ⋯ Our analysis indicates that AE is the most effective exercise modality for reducing dyslipidemia in older adults, compared to RE, AE+RE, and high-intensity interval training. These findings suggest that AE should be promoted as an important lifestyle intervention to improve lipid profile health in the elderly population. However, further research is needed to investigate the optimal duration, frequency, and intensity of AE required to achieve the most beneficial effects on lipid profile health in older adults.

Differences in gross appearance and histopathology of the outer membrane of the subdural hematoma envelope over time: A respective case series and literature review.
Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is a common disorder among elderly males. The most common theory of its cause is a minor brain injury resulting in the rupture of a bridging vein. The outer membrane of subdural hematoma (SDH) evolves like cutaneous wound healing with different phases. This report aims to use a surgical microscope and an electron microscope to show the pathophysiological differences in the temporal flow of the outer membrane of SDH. ⋯ This study suggests that the outer membrane of SDH contains inflammatory and collagen cells in the early stages and thickens over time. This healing response is similar to cutaneous wound healing.
