Randomized Controlled Trial
Efficacy of perioperative cryotherapy combined with intra-articular injection of tranexamic acid in total knee arthroplasty.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of perioperative cryotherapy combined with intra-articular injection of tranexamic acid (TXA) in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and explore a new strategy of enhanced recovery after TKA. ⋯ Continuous cryotherapy combined with intra-articular injection of TXA provides short-term advantages in reducing blood loss, pain, postoperative swelling, p-LOS and increasing ROM and joint function in the early postoperative period after TKA without increasing any severe complications.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Effect of indwelling depth of peripheral intravenous catheters on thrombophlebitis.
To clarify the effect of catheter indwelling depth on the occurrence of thrombophlebitis, a total of 339 hospitalized patients were randomly enrolled and divided by the catheter indwelling depth into 2 groups. Then the effect of indwelling depth on thrombophlebitis was analyzed, and the independent influence factors on the occurrence of thrombophlebitis were clarified. There were 49 cases of thrombophlebitis, including 8 tumor-bearing patients and 41 patients with lung infection. ⋯ Multifactor analysis of variance showed the significant independent risk factors of thrombophlebitis were male [hazard ratio (HR) 3.12 (1.39-6.98)], and lung infection (HR 0.22 [0.06-0.69]), and the indwelling depth of 1.9 cm affected the occurrence of thrombophlebitis (HR 0.79 [0.42 -3.09]) but was not an independent risk factor. In our treatment center, while appropriate fixation was ensured, the catheter indwelling depth shall be as short as possible, so as to reduce the occurrence of thrombophlebitis. For patients with lung infection, nursing at the intubation site shall be strengthened, so as to decrease thrombophlebitis.

Randomized Controlled Trial Observational Study
Effects of lumbar-pelvic training combined with electroacupuncture on chronic nonspecific low back pain.
This observational study was conducted to investigate the effect of lumbar-pelvic training (LP) combined with electroacupuncture (EA) in the treatment of chronic nonspecific low back pain. One hundred and twenty patients diagnosed with chronic nonspecific low back pain were evenly randomized to receive the following 4 treatments for 2 weeks: LP combined with EA (Group A), EA (Group B), LP (Group C) or no intervention (Group D). The LP was a self-developed training program containing 5 movements and was conducted three times a week to build up the strength of abdomen muscle groups. ⋯ Among the intervention groups, Group A's scores were lower than those of Group B or Group C (P < .01). The overall efficacy of Group A was 93.33%, which was higher than that of Group B (76.67%) and Group C (70.00%) (P < .01). In conclusion, this study suggest that our self-developed lumbar-pelvic training combined with electroacupuncture is effective for chronic nonspecific low back pain in terms of pain and disability reduction.

This study investigated the clinical characteristics and risk factors of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in patients in designated hospitals (Port Hospital) in the Henan province. A total of 391 COVID-19 patients with complete case information from August 6, 2021 to February 26, 2022 were selected. Logistic regression was used to analyze the differences between the clinical types, ages, and sex of the patients. ⋯ Multivariate regression analysis for those > 50 years of age showed that underlying diseases (OR: 7.06, 95% CI: 2.79-17.89) and increased urea (OR: 1.91, 95% CI: 1.47-2.48), total bilirubin (OR: 1.14, 95% CI: 1.08-1.21), total protein (OR: 1.08, 95% CI: 1.00-1.17), and lactic dehydrogenase (OR: 1.01, 95% CI: 1.00-1.02) levels and decreased albumin (OR: 0.66, 95% CI: 0.58-0.76) levels were characteristics of COVID-19. Multivariate regression analysis stratified by sex showed that the characteristics of COVID-19 patients were increased white blood cell count in males (OR: 0.66, 95% CI: 0.55-0.78) as well as increased creatinine levels (OR: 0.89, 95% CI: 0.87-0.91). This retrospective analysis provides useful information to support the clinical management of patients with COVID-19.

The global aging problem is very serious. With the increase of age, the risk of depression in the elderly is also increasing. It is necessary to find effective strategies to reduce the depressive symptoms of the elderly. ⋯ The results showed that poor walking ability and poor self-evaluation health status of middle-aged and elderly people were significantly related to depression. The study concluded that middle-aged and elderly people with good walking ability and self-rated health status had a lower risk of depression. This study can provide reference for formulating specific and effective intervention measures for senile depression.
