The diagnostic accuracy of laboratory risk indicator for necrotizing fasciitis (LRINEC) score system in specific Vibrio vulnificus (V vulnificus ) necrotizing fasciitis (NF) have not been fully investigated yet. This aim of our study is to validate the LRINEC score in patients with V vulnificus NF. A retrospective study of hospitalized patients was conducted in a hospital in southern Taiwan between January 2015 and December 2022. ⋯ The LRINEC score may not be an accurate tool for V vulnificus NF. That should be used with caution as a routine diagnostic tool. However, LRINEC > 8 is significantly associated with higher mortality in V vulnificus NF patients.

In this study, a meta-analysis system was used to evaluate the effects of 7 methods of treating sarcopenia, including resistance exercise, aerobic exercise, mixed exercise, nutrition, resistance combined with nutrition, mixed exercise combined with nutrition, and electric stimulation combined with nutrition, and their effects on physical function. ⋯ Compared with aerobic exercise, mixed exercise, nutrition, resistance combined with nutrition, mixed exercise combined with nutrition, and electric stimulation combined with nutrition, resistance exercise has more advantages in improving muscle mass, strength, and physical function performance. The clinical treatment of sarcopenia with resistance exercise intervention has a better curative effect.

The role of Erzhi Tiangui formula in expected poor ovarian responders undergoing in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer: A multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
Advanced age is one of the primary risk factors for infertility. Poor ovarian response (POR) to exogenous gonadotropin is a prominent characteristic of advanced-age women undergoing in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET), which results in fewer retrieved oocytes and poor pregnancy outcomes. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been shown to improve female fertility. Erzhi Tiangui (EZTG) formula, in the form of granules with 10 herbal ingredients, demonstrated potential benefits in improving oocyte and embryo quality and ovarian reserve. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of EZTG formula. ⋯ This study aims to provide robust evidence of the efficacy and safety of EZTG formula as a complementary treatment for advanced-age women with expected POR undergoing IVF-ET.

Meta Analysis
The safety and efficacy of oral antiviral drug VV116 for treatment of COVID-19: A systematic review.
Recent trials have highlighted the potential of oral antiviral VV116 in the treatment of patients with mild COVID-19. However, no comprehensive studies have assessed the safety and efficacy of VV116. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review to assess the safety and efficacy of VV116. ⋯ Collectively, available studies suggest a reliable safety and efficacy profile for VV116. However, the limited number of trials was insufficient for meta-analysis, and the included population consisted of younger individuals with mild and moderate symptoms, not encompassing the elderly who are severely affected by COVID-19. We hope that more studies will be conducted in the future to ensure that VV116 has a more reliable safety and efficacy profile in the clinical setting, especially in severe or critical patients.

Fistula formation into other organs secondary to intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm of the pancreas: A case report and literature review.
Fistula formation from intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) of the pancreas is uncommon; however, IPMN penetrating various organs has been increasingly reported. To date, there is a lack of literature reviewing recent reports and the clinicopathologic details of IPMN with fistula formation are still poorly understood. ⋯ Based on the pathological examination of the surgical specimen, this case was diagnosed of MD-IPMN with invasive carcinoma and mechanical penetration or autodigestion was considered as the mechanism of fistula formation. Given the high risk of malignant transformation and intraductal dissemination of the tumor cells, aggressive surgical strategies, such as total pancreatectomy, should be recommended to achieve complete resection for MD-IPMN with fistula formation.
