Review Case Reports
A case report of solitary fibrous tumor of the thyroid gland and literature review.
A solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is an uncommon soft tissue tumor that was first discovered in the pleura. Although SFTs have been documented in other extra-pleural sites, an SFT in the thyroid gland is highly unusual. An SFT of the thyroid gland can be difficult to diagnose, and there is little information about their Underlying biological behavior. ⋯ Surgical excision is beneficial in SFTs that show no histological signs of malignancy, such as pleomorphism, enhanced mitotic activity, necrosis, bleeding, or capsular invasion. However, because the biologic activity remains unknown, meticulous long-term monitoring is required.

The "real world" treatment mode and clinical efficacy of locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (LAESCC) are unclear. Meanwhile, the role of immunotherapy in the clinical practice is also puzzling. We conducted the research to investigate the statue of "real world" LAESCC. ⋯ Cox multivariate analysis has shown that clinical stage, immunotherapy, concurrent chemoradiotherapy, and ≥ 2L are the main factors affecting OS. and immunotherapy, concurrent chemoradiotherapy, and ≥ 2L are independent factors affecting PFS. Concurrent chemoradiotherapy is currently one of the standard treatments for LAESCC, and most patients are still willing to receive second-line or above treatments. Adding immunotherapy to standard treatment modalities may further optimize clinical treatment modalities and improve patient outcomes.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread rapidly worldwide, leading to a pandemic. In China, Xiyanping injection (XYP) has been recommended as a drug for COVID-19 treatment in the Guideline on Diagnosis and Treatment of COVID-19 by the National Health Commission of the People Republic of China and National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Trial eighth Edition). However, the relevant mechanisms at the molecular-level need to be further elucidated. ⋯ Through effective network pharmacology analysis and molecular docking, this study suggests that XYP contains many effective compounds that may target COVID-19 related signaling pathways. Moreover, the in vitro experiment confirmed that XYP could inhibit the cytokine storm by regulating genes or proteins related to immune and inflammatory responses.

Capecitabine-based neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) is the standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer. The objective of this study is to analyze overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS) and prognostic factors of patients with stage II to III rectal cancer treated with nCRT in our institution. Between March 2014 to June 2020, 121 locally advanced rectal cancer patients were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. ⋯ CRT with capecitabine based regimen provides high rates of survival and sphincter preservation with acceptable toxicity. YpTNM stage was significantly associated with DFS; magnetic resonance imaging MRF status and ypTNM stage were significant factors for OS after multivariate analysis. Distant metastasis is the dominant mode of treatment failure, and it is crucial to optimize systemic treatment for newly diagnosed patients.

Postoperative delirium (POD) refers to acute brain dysfunction occurring within 7 days after operation or before discharge. Frailty refers to the state that the body's physiological reserve is insufficient, so that the compensative capacity to endogenous and exogenous stress stimuli decreases. The purpose of this study is to explore the association of preoperative frailty (PF) with POD in elderly patients undergoing hip arthroplasty. ⋯ PF is a crucial risk factor for POD in elderly patients undergoing hip arthroplasty.
