Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine and metabolic disorder affecting women of reproductive age, affecting reproductive health, and increasing the incidence of diabetes mellitus and hypertension. Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is the most common metabolic disorder. Although clinical studies have shown a close association between PCOS and MetS, the molecular mechanisms are unknown. ⋯ The expression level of ELOVL7 in human follicular fluid granulosa cells from PCOS patients was significantly higher than that of controls, as verified by quantitative polymerase chain reaction. This study provides the first evidence of the role of ELOVL7 in developing PCOS and MetS. This gene may serve as a potential diagnostic marker and therapeutic target for both conditions.

The aim of this study was to assess the sense of coherence (SOC) in the Spanish-speaking population during the 2019 coronavirus disease pandemic. ⋯ The study concludes that there are significant benefits for the mental and physical health of the population, regardless of cultural context, to be gained from strengthening the SOC. It is therefore essential that interventions which enhance the SOC are implemented in order to improve public health in times of crisis. Furthermore, it is crucial that SOC measurement instruments are validated in different cultural contexts in order to ensure the reliability and validity of the results obtained.

The effect of body mass index on bone density by age distribution in women.
Osteoporosis significantly affects public health, especially among postmenopausal women, by reducing bone mass and increasing the risk of fractures. While the influence of body mass index (BMI) on Bone Mineral Density (BMD) is acknowledged, the specific age range in which BMI most significantly affects bone density remains unclear. This study aims to explore the relationship between BMI and BMD in different age groups to identify potential age-specific risk factors for osteoporosis. ⋯ BMI, along with body weight and age, are important determinants of BMD, but not the sole factors influencing bone loss. The study highlights the need for a personalized approach to osteoporosis risk, considering a broader spectrum of genetic, hormonal and lifestyle factors. It recommends further evaluation of other risk factors in larger cohorts and emphasizes the importance of future longitudinal research to elucidate the dynamic relationship between BMI and BMD over time.

As an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, vitamin K has the potential to reduce telomere attrition. However, the correlation between dietary vitamin K and telomere length (TL) has not been reported. We aimed to investigate the association between these 2 variables. ⋯ Subgroup analyses suggested that this association persisted in populations stratified by gender, age, diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), body mass index and total energy intake (P for interaction > .05). A linear relationship between dietary vitamin K intake and TL was observed in restricted cubic splines (P for nonlinear = .554). In conclusion, our findings suggest that dietary vitamin K intake is positively associated with TL, providing recent evidence to guide the management of healthy diets.

Although several studies have discussed the relationships among digital health literacy, health, and exercise behavior, few have integrated these 3 factors into a single model. This study aims to address this research gap. This article aims to analyze the impact of digital health literacy on the health of older adults, as well as the mediating mechanisms related to exercise frequency and duration. ⋯ Digital health literacy has a significant impact on the health of older adults. The duration and frequency of exercise play a partial mediating role between older adults' digital health literacy and their physical health status. Digital health literacy can encourage older adults to increase the duration and frequency of exercise, which, in turn, promotes their physical health.
