This study's objective was to observe the application effect of psychological counseling intervention based on the WeChat platform for patients with gastrointestinal tumors undergoing chemotherapy with completely implanted venous infusion ports. From October 2022 to December 2023, 110 patients with gastrointestinal tumors undergoing chemotherapy with completely implanted venous infusion ports were selected from our hospital. Patients were divided into 2 groups according to the different types of care. ⋯ After intervention, the WeChat group had higher facing scores and lower avoidance and resignation scores compared to the control group (P < .05). The overall chemotherapy compliance in the WeChat group was higher than that in the control group (P < .05). Psychological counseling intervention based on the WeChat platform can improve the level of hope, promote patients to face the disease with a positive attitude, increase chemotherapy compliance, and reduce the occurrence of adverse events in patients with gastrointestinal tumors undergoing chemotherapy with completely implanted venous infusion ports.

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a global health concern, with inflammation significantly contributing to its pathogenesis. It is crucial to understand the relationship between inflammatory cytokines and CHD. This study investigates the causal correlations between circulating inflammatory cytokines and CHD using Mendelian randomization (MR), assessing both causative and resultant roles of these cytokines in CHD. ⋯ These findings suggest that CCL11, CCL20, CSF1, FGF21, FLT3LG, NT-3, and LIF may play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of CHD. Additionally, CHD may impact the expression of CD5. Additional research is needed to explore the potential of these biomarkers in the prevention and treatment of CHD.

Newly emerging evidence indicates that body mass index (BMI) is a potential risk factor for autoimmune diseases (ADs). Nevertheless, the exact causal connection between ADs and BMI in children remains uncertain. To investigate the relationship between BMI in children and ADs, a 2-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was conducted. ⋯ The OR estimates from the weighted median analysis showed a beta coefficient of 0.20, SE of 0.06, OR of 1.22, and a 95% CI ranging from 1.08 to 1.36, with a P-value of <.05. No significant association was observed in the MR-Egger and Weighted mode analyses. The findings from the MR analysis suggest that there is evidence supporting a potential causal link between BMI in children and an increased susceptibility to ADs.

According to the findings of multiple observational studies, immune disorder was a risk factor for prostatitis. However, it remained unknown whether there was a direct causal relationship between immune cells and prostatitis or whether this relationship was mediated by plasma metabolites. Based on the pooled data of a genome-wide association study (GWAS), a genetic variant was used to predict the effects of 731 immunophenotypes on the risk of prostatitis and determine whether the effects were mediated by 1400 metabolites. ⋯ The glutamine degradant levels mediated the causal relationship between HLA DR+ CD4+ %T cells and prostatitis, with a mediation effect of -0.012, accounting for 8.07% of the total. The present study indicated that the immune cell subsets predicted based on gene expression profiles were potentially beneficial or harmful risk factors of prostatitis, and plasma metabolites may serve as the mediating factors of the relationship. The study thus shed light on deciphering the immunologic mechanism of prostatitis.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition with complex etiology involving genetic, environmental, and immunological factors. This study employs Mendelian randomization to explore the causal relationships between immune cell phenotypes and AD, and the mediating effects of plasma metabolites. ⋯ These findings underscore the critical role of metabolic pathways in modulating immune responses and suggest potential dietary and therapeutic interventions for AD management. Further research should consider more diverse populations to validate these findings.
