Macrofollicular subtype of papillary thyroid carcinoma: Ultrasonographic findings and clinical implications.
The macrofollicular subtype of papillary thyroid cancer (MFS-PTC) is a rare subtype often leading to a challenging diagnosis. To evaluate the ultrasonographic (US) features and clinical implication of MFS-PTC. Records of 14 patients histologically diagnosed with MFS-PTC at our institution over a period of 16 years were retrospectively reviewed. ⋯ No distant metastases or recurrence was detected. MFS-PTC is representative of a benign sonographic appearance of PTC subtypes. Tumor growth on serial US images is the only suspicious finding for MFS-PTC because FNA or CNB is often false negative.

P/FP [PaO2/(FiO2*PEEP)] is associated with in-hospital mortality in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). However, to the best of our knowledge, the association between P/FP after 24 hours of invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) and in-hospital mortality in patients with ARDS due to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) remained unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the P/FP after 24 hours of IMV and in-hospital mortality in patients with ARDS due to COVID-19. ⋯ After adjusting for potential confounders, the HR was 0.67 (95% CI: 0.56-0.79) for P/FP ≤ 22 mm Hg/cmH2O and 1.10 (95% CI: 0.83-1.47) for P/FP > 22 mm Hg/cmH2O. In addition, lymphocytes ≤ 1 × 109/L and acute kidney failure had a higher risk of death. After adjusting for potential confounders, the P/FP after 24 hours of IMV was nonlinearly associated with in-hospital mortality in patients with ARDS due to COVID-19.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is a common primary malignant brain tumor and the prognosis of these patients remains poor. Therefore, further understanding of cell cycle-related molecular mechanisms of GBM and identification of appropriate prognostic markers and therapeutic targets are key research imperatives. Based on RNA-seq expression datasets from The Cancer Genome Atlas database, prognosis-related biological processes in GBM were screened out. ⋯ Our findings reinforce the relationship between cell cycle and GBM and may help improve the prognostic assessment of patients with GBM. Our predictive prognostic model, based on independent prognostic factors, enables tailored treatment strategies for GBM patients. It is particularly useful for subgroups with uncertain prognosis or treatment challenges.

The association of early pregnancy ultrasound parameters with reproductive hormone levels: A retrospective case-control Study.
The association between early pregnancy ultrasound parameters and reproductive hormone levels was investigated through a case-control study. Participants for this retrospective study were recruited from obstetrics and gynecology departments across multiple tertiary care centers over 2 years. Inclusion criteria for the case group included pregnant women in their first trimester with detailed ultrasound data, while the control group comprised nonpregnant women without hormonal disorders. ⋯ Prolactin levels were positively correlated with all ultrasound parameters in cases. The control group did not show any significant correlations between hormone levels and ultrasound parameters. The study concluded a significant association between early pregnancy ultrasound parameters and reproductive hormone levels in pregnant women, underscoring the potential of these hormones as biomarkers for pregnancy development.

Association of hepatitis B virus and thyroid hormones during pregnancy.
This study aims to evaluate the correlation between serum thyroid hormone levels and hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA and HBV genotypes in pregnant women with chronic hepatitis B. A total of 96 pregnant women with chronic HBV-infected pregnant women between January 2020 and December 2022 were selected as the observational study subjects. About 50 HBV-uninfected pregnant women during the same period were selected as the control group. ⋯ However, there was no statistical difference in thyroid hormone levels between different HBV genotypes (P > .05). The thyroid hormone levels will change in pregnant women infected with hepatitis B virus, and there is a certain correlation between HBV-DNA load and thyroid hormone levels. Therefore, timely monitoring of thyroid hormones and HBV-DNA load can provide early prevention and treatment for HBV infection in pregnant women, ensuring the health of pregnant women and fetuses.
