This paper aims to conduct a comprehensive and insightful review and analysis of the potential targets and corresponding pathways of Chaihu Shugan Powder (CSP) for the treatment of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) using a network pharmacology approach. The review will encompass traditional applications, active ingredients of Chinese medicines, clinical applications, pharmacological mechanisms, and active ingredients. ⋯ In this paper, we have reviewed CSP and PMS, investigated the potential targets and corresponding pathways of CSP for the treatment of PMS, and systematically summarized the active ingredients and pharmacological mechanisms of 7 herbal components. In addition, 17 pathways of CSP for PMS were identified for future research and clinical application. However, the specific mechanism of action of CSP for the treatment of PMS is only based on literature and online pharmacological studies, and no basic or clinical experiments have been conducted. In addition, CSP has many components with complex and varied interactions, and the effects of certain compounds may be overlooked. Based on the present findings, it is beneficial to further explore the mechanism of action of the new effector compounds and the prospect of their application in basic research and clinical trials. In conclusion, the revelation of new effector compounds and mechanisms of action is conducive to the further clinical application of CSP, the discovery of new targets for PMS, and the modernization of Chinese medicine.

P/FP [PaO2/(FiO2*PEEP)] is associated with in-hospital mortality in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). However, to the best of our knowledge, the association between P/FP after 24 hours of invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) and in-hospital mortality in patients with ARDS due to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) remained unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the P/FP after 24 hours of IMV and in-hospital mortality in patients with ARDS due to COVID-19. ⋯ After adjusting for potential confounders, the HR was 0.67 (95% CI: 0.56-0.79) for P/FP ≤ 22 mm Hg/cmH2O and 1.10 (95% CI: 0.83-1.47) for P/FP > 22 mm Hg/cmH2O. In addition, lymphocytes ≤ 1 × 109/L and acute kidney failure had a higher risk of death. After adjusting for potential confounders, the P/FP after 24 hours of IMV was nonlinearly associated with in-hospital mortality in patients with ARDS due to COVID-19.

Enhancing English abstract quality for non-English speaking authors using ChatGPT: A comparative study of Taiwan, Japan, China, and South Korea with slope graphs.
A clear and proficient English abstract is crucial for disseminating research findings to a global audience, significantly impacting the accessibility and visibility of research from non-English speaking countries. Despite the adoption of ChatGPT since November 30, 2022, a comprehensive analysis of improvements in English abstracts in scholarly journals has not been conducted. This study aims to identify which authors from Taiwan, Japan, China, and South Korea (TJCS) have shown the most improvement in English abstracts. ⋯ The English abstracts in Medicine (Baltimore) have improved, reflecting the tool's positive impact on enhancing technical language. This study demonstrates that ChatGPT can enhance the quality of English abstracts for authors from non-English speaking regions, although the assumption that all authors use ChatGPT is invalid and impractical. The findings underscore the value of artificial intelligence tools in academic writing and recommend further investigation into the long-term implications of artificial intelligence integration in scholarly communication.

DMG is a highly invasive and lethal type of brain tumor. As these tumors progress, they often compromise the CSF circulation, leading to hydrocephalus. Ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) is commonly employed to manage hydrocephalus; however, the complication of VPS-induced ascites, particularly in the presence of tumor cells, is a significant concern that merits attention. ⋯ These cases underscore the importance of continuous monitoring of both the CSF and ascitic fluid in patients with gliomas. Regular assessments of biochemical composition, cytology, and other diagnostic tests are crucial for early detection of disease progression. This proactive approach facilitates timely clinical judgment and intervention, potentially improving patient outcomes.

Apoptosis, a form of programmed cell death, plays a significant role in osteoarthritis; however, bibliometric studies in this field remain scarce. Bibliometrics provides a visual representation of research outcomes and trends, guiding future investigations. ⋯ Utilizing bibliometrics and visual analysis, we explored the hotspots and trends in the field of chondrocyte apoptosis in osteoarthritis. Extracellular matrix, Circular RNA, Micro RNA, among others, are likely to become future research focal points and frontiers.
