Uterine carcinosarcomas (UCS) are rare aggressive biphasic tumors classified as a subtype of high-grade uterine carcinomas. However, these tumors have particular histopathological features and clinical behavior with worse prognosis than high-grade uterine carcinomas. ⋯ UCS are rare and aggressive uterine tumors with very poor prognosis especially in low-income countries.

There is a lack of health economics studies on the treatment of acute lower extremity deep venous thrombosis to measure the benefits to patients. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of anticoagulation (AC), percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy (PMT), and catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT). ⋯ All 3 treatment methods have good safety. Compared with AC therapy alone, both PMT and CDT therapy resulted in a higher clinical efficacy rate, reduced the severity of PTS within 2 years, and reduced the cost of PTS. From the perspective of the cost-effectiveness ratio, within a certain range of treatment efficacy, AC therapy alone incurs the lowest cost per 1% improvement in therapeutic effect. The cost-effectiveness results show that if decision-makers consider the standard for improving the cure rate of lower limb deep vein thrombosis by 1% to be lower than the ratio of incremental cost to effect, then AC therapy alone is chosen. If decision-makers consider the standard for improving the cure rate of lower limb deep vein thrombosis by 1% to be higher than the ratio of incremental cost to effect, then the choice is AC plus CDT treatment.

Macrofollicular subtype of papillary thyroid carcinoma: Ultrasonographic findings and clinical implications.
The macrofollicular subtype of papillary thyroid cancer (MFS-PTC) is a rare subtype often leading to a challenging diagnosis. To evaluate the ultrasonographic (US) features and clinical implication of MFS-PTC. Records of 14 patients histologically diagnosed with MFS-PTC at our institution over a period of 16 years were retrospectively reviewed. ⋯ No distant metastases or recurrence was detected. MFS-PTC is representative of a benign sonographic appearance of PTC subtypes. Tumor growth on serial US images is the only suspicious finding for MFS-PTC because FNA or CNB is often false negative.

Association between serum globulins and diabetes mellitus in American latent tuberculosis infection patients: A cross-sectional study.
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is predisposing to the development of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI). An understanding of the underlying factors of LTBI-DM is important for tuberculosis prevention and control. This study aims to evaluate the association between LTBI and DM among the noninstitutionalized civilian population in the United States, focusing on the impact of serum globulins. ⋯ The area under the curve for serum globulin predicting DM was 0.795, with an optimal cutoff value of 2.9. Elevated serum globulin levels are significantly associated with an increased risk of DM among individuals with LTBI, highlighting the potential role of serum globulin as a predictive biomarker for DM in this population. However, the specific mechanism between globulin and LTBI-DM needs to be further investigated.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma with clear cell morphology - a close mimic of clear cell carcinoma: A case report.
In this case, the tumor cells were epithelioid, with translucent cytoplasm, well-defined cell borders, moderate size, rounded or ovoid nuclei, and small nucleoli visible. Based on this morphological feature, we first considered clear cell carcinoma, but the epithelial-related immunohistochemical results don't support the diagnosis. Ultimately, based on lymphoma-associated immunohistochemical results and gene rearrangement assays, the final diagnosis of a clear cell variant of DLBCL. Therefore, clinicians and pathologists are reminded that DLBCL with clear cell morphology is rare. ⋯ Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma with clear cell morphology is a rare tumor, and its diagnosis mainly relies on pathological findings, immunohistochemistry, gene rearrangement.
