Case Reports
Delayed Horner's syndrome and acute stress disorder caused by a large dog bite on the neck: Case report.
The occurrence of delayed Horner's syndrome caused by a dog bite to the neck is rarely reported. Acute stress disorder (ASD) can easily be neglected when diagnosing this disease in trauma patients who cannot be effectively observed. The symptoms of Horner's syndrome may not be readily detected in patients with ASD. ⋯ Surgeons should be aware of the possibility of sympathetic nerve injury in patients with deep neck injury, especially in patients with internal jugular vein injury. Peripheral nerves should be explored during the operation. Attention should be paid to the possibility of delayed neurological symptoms and the prevention and treatment of ASD after operation.

Aromatherapy has been proposed as a complementary therapy to enhance sleep quality and regulate mood. However, few studies have specifically examined the efficacy of aromatherapy in managing sleep disorders in older adults. Therefore, the present study aims to systematically review the impact of aromatherapy on sleep quality among older adults. ⋯ This study indicates that aromatherapy improves sleep quality in older adults, with single-use lavender, non-inhalation aromatherapy, lasting less than 4 weeks being particularly effective. Aromatherapy also alleviates depression, but its effects on anxiety require further evaluation.

Endometriosis (EMs) is a common chronic inflammatory gynecological disease that belongs to the classification of Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndromes "Zheng Jia," and the classic Chinese formula Guizhi Fuling (GZFL) demonstrates significant clinical efficacy in the treatment of this condition. This study aims to investigate GZFL's effect and potential mechanism in EMs. ⋯ In conclusion, GZFL combination treatment could increase the clinical effectiveness rate of EMs patients, and reduce the serum level of carbohydrate antigen 125, estradiol, matrix metalloproteinases, pain scores, and the diameter of the ectopic cyst. The potential mechanism might be linked to the modulation of hormone receptors and inflammation.

Meta Analysis
Efficacy and safety of QingReJieDu therapy in preventing acute radiation esophagitis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Acute radiation esophagitis (ARE) is a frequently observed complication of radiotherapy for malignant tumors. QingReJieDu (QRJD) therapy is commonly used for the prevention and treatment of ARE. There is a lack of evidence regarding the effectiveness and safety of traditional Chinese medicine in preventing ARE. Therefore, the objective of this study was to comprehensively evaluate the efficacy and safety of QRJD therapy in preventing ARE. ⋯ Our results indicate that QRJD therapy has a significant preventive effect on ARE in clinical practice. However, it is important to note that these findings should be confirmed through more rigorously designed, multicenter, large-sample, and large-scale randomized controlled trials.

Bloodletting at the ear apex for acute stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Stroke is a major cause of death and disability worldwide. Despite innovative developments in acute stroke treatment techniques in modern society, many stroke survivors still experience complications, leading to a demand for complementary and alternative medicines, including traditional medicine. Bloodletting at the ear apex (BLEA) is a nonpharmacological intervention used for various diseases, including acute stroke, in traditional medicine in East Asian countries, including China and Korea. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of BLEA for acute stroke recovery. ⋯ BLEA may be a promising intervention that provides additional benefits to patients with acute stroke receiving standard western medical care. However, the supporting evidence comes from a few small studies with a high risk of bias and low reporting quality. Future studies with appropriate population sizes and more rigorous methodology are warranted.
