Preeclampsia and eclampsia are serious complications of pregnancy, leading to high rates of maternal and neonatal mortality. During pregnancy, there are changes in relevant serum metabolites in women. However, it remains unclear if these serum metabolites contribute to the development of associated disorders during pregnancy. ⋯ Moreover, our observations reveal that carbohydrates can also have a direct effect on preeclampsia. Importantly, it should be emphasized that only 3-lactate in amino acids has been shown to have a direct influence on eclampsia. This research has the potential to enhance our understanding of the biological variances related to disease status, providing a foundation for future investigations.

This study aims to investigate the relationship between different phases of bipolar disorder (depressive, manic, and euthymic) and myocardial deformation, assessed by echocardiography, compared to healthy controls. It seeks to elucidate whether these phases of bipolar disorder are associated with different myocardial strain patterns, thus contributing to the understanding of cardiovascular implications in bipolar disorder. A cross-sectional design was employed at Dursun Odabaş Medical Centre, Psychiatry Clinic of Van Yüzüncü Yl University. ⋯ The study concluded that the phases of bipolar disorder are associated with distinct myocardial strain patterns, as evidenced by the variation in GLS values. The findings underscore the importance of cardiac monitoring in bipolar disorder, suggesting potential cardiac risks, particularly during the manic phase. This study advocates integrated care approaches, combining psychiatric and cardiac evaluations for patients with bipolar disorder.

Severe hyponatremia and diabetes insipidus caused by low-dose cyclophosphamide in breast cancer patients: A case report and literature review.
Cyclophosphamide (CTX) is widely used in the treatment of malignancies and autoimmune diseases. Although severe hyponatremia caused by low-dose CTX chemotherapy is uncommon, it can lead to serious complications and even death. ⋯ This is a typical case of severe hyponatremia induced by low-dose CTX. Clinicians and healthcare providers should be aware of this potential toxicity, and appropriate monitoring should be implemented.

This study conducts a rapid health technology assessment to systematically evaluate the effectiveness, safety, and cost-effectiveness of Cerebrolysin as an adjunctive therapy for acute ischemic stroke to provide evidence-based medicine for clinical decisions of Cerebrolysin. All systematic reviews/meta-analyses, pharmacoeconomic studies, and health technology assessment reports of Cerebrolysin for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke before August 17, 2023, were retrieved from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, Weipu, Sinomed database and the official website of health technology assessment. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 2 researchers independently carried out screening, data extraction, and quality evaluation and descriptively analyzed the results of the included studies. ⋯ Regarding safety, adverse reactions were mild or comparable to those in the control group. The primary findings of economic studies reveal that advocating for the use of Cerebrolysin offers certain cost-effectiveness advantages. Cerebrolysin contributes to improved clinical efficacy and evaluation indexes while demonstrating favorable safety and economic benefits.

A thyroid storm is a life-threatening endocrine emergency characterized by severe hyperthyroidism and many systemic manifestations. Prompt recognition and treatment are essential for patient survival. This study evaluates the utility of existing diagnostic criteria and scoring systems for thyroid storm. ⋯ Additionally, a standardized scoring system approach could improve clinical practice consistency. In conclusion, while current diagnostic criteria and scoring systems provide a foundation for identifying thyroid storm, their utility has shortcomings. Advancements in diagnostic methods and a collaborative effort to establish standardized criteria are imperative to enhance the accuracy and reliability of thyroid storm diagnosis, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
