Cosmetic iris implants have a record of high ocular complications and are no longer in use. These complications include glaucoma, corneal decompensation, iris atrophy, uveitis, cataract and retinal detachment. ⋯ To the best of our knowledge, we describe the first report of bilateral total iris atrophy following a cosmetic iris implant accompanied by bilateral glaucoma and corneal decompensation.

Primary adrenal lymphoma (PAL) is a very rare and highly aggressive disease. Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is a rare manifestation of lymphoma characterized by the infiltration of lymphoma cells into peripheral nerves, resulting in neurological symptoms. To date, there have been very few reported cases of PAL with NL. By reviewing the entire treatment process of the patient, we aim to enhance recognition of PAL complicated with NL and guide clinicians to pay attention to the diagnosis of such diseases. Early recognition and diagnosis of NL are crucial for appropriate management and treatment decisions. ⋯ Due to the nonspecific clinical presentation, patients with neurological damage should be alerted to the possibility of PAL and need to be evaluated thoroughly.

Adult-onset congenital cholesteatoma in the hypotympanum initially presenting as Bell's palsy: A case report.
Cholesteatoma is a rare disease characterized by the accumulation of keratinized squamous epithelial cells in the middle ear or mastoid cavity. Vertigo and facial palsy, which are rare complications, may indicate erosion into the semicircular canals or the fallopian canal. ⋯ Routine eardrum examination is recommended for patients presenting with isolated peripheral facial palsy. If necessary, a patient should be referred to an otologist for further evaluation and treatment.

Adequate sleep is crucial for individuals' well-being and cognitive functioning. However, medical students face unique challenges that disrupt their sleep patterns, such as a rigorous curriculum, long study hours, and high-stress levels. Understanding the sleep patterns and quality among medical students in Nigeria is important to develop targeted interventions and support their overall well-being. ⋯ Correlation analysis revealed significant associations between sleep patterns, sleep quality, academic performance, and other sleep-related factors. The study identified insufficient sleep duration, irregular bedtimes, late-night coffee consumption, and poor sleep quality. These findings emphasize the need for interventions and strategies to promote healthy sleep habits among medical students, which can positively impact their overall health and academic performance.

Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) has imposed a significant economic and health burden worldwide, notably in China. Using whole genome sequence, we sought to understand the mutation and transmission of MDR-TB in Shandong. A retrospective study of patients diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis in Shandong from 2009 to 2018 was conducted. ⋯ MDR-TB isolates with rpoB I480V, embA-12C > T, and rrs A1401G mutations showed a higher likelihood of clustering (P < .05). Our findings indicate a significant problem of local transmission of MDR-TB in Shandong, China. Beijing lineage isolates and some drug-resistant mutations account for the MDR-TB transmission in Shandong.
