Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the third most common cause of mortality globally (with 17.8 million deaths annually). Angiotensinogen (AGT) and polymorphisms in this gene can be considered as susceptibility factors for CAD. We performed a retrospective case-control study to determine the correlation of AGT rs5051 and rs699 polymorphisms with CAD in an Iranian population. ⋯ Moreover, our findings showed a significant association of the haplotype, including the rs5051 A/A and rs699 T/C genotypes, with CAD (P = .0405). Finally, AGT mRNA levels were significantly decreased in patients harboring the candidate polymorphisms (P = .03). According to our findings The AGT rs5051 A and AGT rs699 C alleles are predisposing variants of CAD risk and severity in the Iranian population.

Idiopathic mesenteric phlebosclerosis occurring in a patient with liver cirrhosis: A case report.
Idiopathic mesenteric phlebosclerosis (IMP) is a rare gastrointestinal disease with unclear etiology and pathogenesis. IMP occurring in a patient with liver cirrhosis is more scarcely reported than independent IMP. In this study, we reported a case of IMP occurring in a patient with liver cirrhosis, so as to provide a reference for understanding liver cirrhosis with IMP. ⋯ A comprehensive medical diagnosis is necessary for the discovery of IMP, especially IMP with liver cirrhosis. Liver cirrhosis maybe play a key role in the development of IMP. The regulatory mechanism of liver cirrhosis contributing to IMP needs to be further studied based on more clinical cases.

This study aimed to develop nomograms to accurately predict the overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) of non-metastatic bladder cancer (BC) patients. Clinicopathological information of 260,412 non-metastatic BC patients was downloaded from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database from 2000 to 2020. LASSO method and Cox proportional hazard regression analysis were utilized to discover the independent risk factors, which were used to develop nomograms. ⋯ Kaplan-Meier curve and log-rank test uncovered statistically significance survival difference between high- and low-risk groups. We developed nomograms to predict OS and CSS for non-metastatic BC patients. The models have been internally and externally validated with accuracy and discrimination and can assist clinicians to make better clinical decisions.

To analyze the effects of high ligation plus endovenous laser therapy on intraoperative blood loss, postoperative visual analogue scale (VAS) score, and complications in patients with varicosis of great saphenous vein and type 2 diabetes. About 61 patients with varicosis of great saphenous vein and type 2 diabetes treated at our hospital were included. About 32 patients (37 affected limbs) receiving conventional surgery were included in control group, while 29 patients (34 affected limbs) receiving high ligation plus endovenous laser therapy were included in study group. ⋯ Blood glucose levels of patients in the study group were lower than those of the control group after surgery (P < .05). The VCSS was also lower in the study group at 3 months after surgery than in the control group (P < .05). High ligation with endovenous laser therapy for varicosis of great saphenous vein in patients with type 2 diabetes was safe and feasible.

The Golgi apparatus plays a crucial role in intracellular protein transportation, processing, and sorting. Dysfunctions of the Golgi apparatus have been implicated in tumorigenesis and drug resistance. This study aimed to investigate the prognostic and treatment response assessment value of Golgi apparatus-related gene (GARGs) features in gastric cancer patients. ⋯ The risk features derived from GARGs, in conjunction with age, were identified as independent risk factors for gastric cancer. The nomogram incorporating these factors demonstrated improved performance in predicting gastric cancer prognosis. Our study established risk features derived from GARGs that hold potential clinical utility in prognostic assessment and immune therapy response evaluation of gastric cancer patients.
