Plasma gelsolin (pGSN) correlates with clinical improvement in septic patients. We aimed to investigate pGSN levels as a diagnostic and prognostic marker of neonatal late-onset-sepsis (LOS). A case-control study was done on 184 neonates (92 with LOS and 92 controls). ⋯ We detected significantly lower pGSN level among cases compared to controls (90.63 ± 20.64 vs 451.83 ± 209.59). It was significantly related to the severity of sepsis and mortality, with significantly lower values among cases with septic shock and multiorgan failure and non-survivors. Follow-up pGSN significantly increased after sepsis improvement in survivors compared to admission values. pGSN might be a reliable diagnostic and prognostic marker for LOS.

Since December 2019, COVID-19 has triggered a global pandemic. The association of COVID-19 with the long-term reproductive situation of women and males is not clear. Thus, our aim was to assess the causal association between COVID-19 and infertility using Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis based on the OpenGWAS database. ⋯ To further validate the impact of COVID-19 on infertility, we added a covariate (sex hormone binding global levels, abortion) to the MR analysis, which is a multivariate MR analysis. According to univariate and multivariate MR analyses, the evidence does not support that COVID-19 is a causal risk factor for infertility in European population. This information can provide information for doctors in reproductive centers when managing infertility patients.

Adolescents with hemiplegic cerebral palsy undergo conventional physical therapy (CPT) to improve static and dynamic balance, activities of daily living and cardiopulmonary function. To overcome this problem, we developed an innovative deep learning-based rehabilitation application (DRA) to provide a motivational and chaffed platform for such individuals. DRA evaluates the patients' functional abilities and diagnosis an appropriate therapeutic intervention like CPT. ⋯ Our results provide evidence that DRA can improve cardiopulmonary function, balance, and activities of daily living more effectively than CPT in adolescents with hemiplegic cerebral palsy.

Stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) is a one of most common malignancies with high mortality-to-incidence ratio. Programmed cell death (PCD) exerts vital functions in the progression of cancer. The role of PCD-related genes (PRGs) in STAD are not fully clarified. ⋯ Patient with high PRS score had a higher TIDE score, higher immune escape score, lower PD1&CTLA4 immunophenoscore, lower TMB score, lower response rate and poor prognosis, indicating a less immunotherapy response. The IC50 value of some drugs correlated with chemotherapy and targeted therapy was higher in high PRS score group. Our investigation developed an optimal PRS in STAD and it acted as an indicator for predicting the prognosis, stratifying risk and guiding treatment for STAD patients.

Case Reports
Unconsciousness as the main nonfocal symptom of anterior circulation transient ischemic attack: A case report.
Unconsciousness is a nonfocal symptom of transient ischemic attack (TIA) that is frequently observed in patients with vertebrobasilar artery stenosis or occlusion. Conversely, loss of consciousness due to anterior circulation involvement (e.g., middle cerebral artery [MCA]) is a rare occurrence in TIA. ⋯ These findings suggested that hypoperfusion in the bilateral cerebral hemispheres played a pivotal role in precipitating the patient episodes of unconsciousness. This case underscores the possibility that occlusion or severe stenosis in both MCAs can contribute to recurrent episodes of unconsciousness due to hypoperfusion. Moreover, it emphasizes the association between these episodes of unconsciousness and an increased risk of subsequent ischemic stroke.
