The ABC classification, which categorizes gastric cancer risk based on serum Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) antibody and pepsinogen levels, has a limitation of potentially misclassifying high-risk individuals as low risk. To overcome the problem, we previously developed a 4-parameter predictive formula (age, serum H pylori antibody, PGI, and PGII) using logistic regression analysis to accurately identify low-risk truly H pylori-uninfected status. Our predictive formula demonstrated superior sensitivity and specificity in distinguishing between low-risk truly uninfected individuals and high-risk currently/spontaneously eradicated status individuals, compared to the modified ABC classification based on latex immunoassay kits (traditional 3-parameter model). ⋯ The specificity of the predictive formula was superior in the 70 to 89 age range and H pylori antibody < 3 U/mL groups. The predictive formula had higher specificity than the traditional 3-parameter model. The results should contribute to efficient gastric cancer screening by predicting H pylori infection status.

A new subtype of prostate cancer called treatment-related neuroendocrine prostate carcinoma (t-NEPC) was added to the revised World Health Organization classification of prostate cancer in 2022. t-NEPC cases are increasing, and there is no established standard treatment. ⋯ Platinum-based chemotherapy is often administered for the treatment of t-NEPC, but there are few reports on the effectiveness of olaparib in patients with BRCA2 mutations. In a literature review, this case demonstrated the longest duration of effectiveness with olaparib alone without platinum-based chemotherapy. Additionally, the occurrence of relatively rare, fatal brain metastases in prostate cancer after a long period of CR suggests the necessity of regular brain imaging examinations.

Review Case Reports
A case of POEMS syndrome comprising of a complicated diagnostic procedure: Case report.
This article presents the case of a patient with recurrent chronic diarrhea and cachexia who was misdiagnosed, followed by a literature review to summarize the reasons for misdiagnosis of POEMS syndrome and the treatment strategies. ⋯ POEMS syndrome has low clinical specificity and a high rate of misdiagnosis. However, once a definitive diagnosis is made, the treatment outcome is favorable.

Norcantharidin in cancer therapy - a new approach to overcoming therapeutic resistance: A review.
Therapeutic resistance in cancer remains a dilemma that scientists and oncologists are eager to solve. Despite several preclinical and clinical studies dedicated to overcoming therapeutic resistance, they often do not yield the expected outcomes. This is primarily due to the multifactorial phenomenon of therapeutic resistance. ⋯ This review article presents a full description of how NCTD can effectively overcome cancer resistance to standard treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, hormone therapy, and targeted therapy. We also discuss the potential prospects and challenges associated with using NCTD as a therapeutic strategy for reversing resistance to cancer therapy. We anticipate that our review will serve as a valuable reference for researchers and clinicians.

Effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy on occupational stress management among administrative, language, science and vocational education staff within open and distance learning centers: A randomized controlled trial evaluation.
The administrative, language, science and vocational staff in Nigerian open and distance learning centers handle a wide range of responsibilities, including teaching, supervising exams, managing projects for distant learners, conducting research, and attending conferences. However, no research in southeast Nigeria has looked into how the administrative, language, science and vocational staff at open-distance learning centers manage occupational stress. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate how administrative, language, science and vocational education staff at open distance learning facilities in southeast Nigeria manage their work-related stress in relation to cognitive behavior therapy intervention. ⋯ Administrative, language, science and vocational education staff at open distance learning facilities in southeast Nigeria can effectively manage their occupational stress through the use of cognitive behavior therapy.
