Self-exercise during hemodialysis reportedly prevents functional decline. This study aimed to assess the effects of exercise on physical function during hemodialysis. From September 2014 to March 2018, 35 elderly dialysis patients participated in an exercise program 3 times a week for 24 weeks during hemodialysis under staff supervision. ⋯ Other significant improvements were observed in both knee extension muscle strength and right side of grip strength. There was also an improving trend in both Short Form Version 2 and Self-Rating Questionnaire for Depression after the intervention compared with the baseline. A long-term supervised self-exercise program during dialysis led to maintenance and improvement of physical and psychological functioning in elderly dialysis patients.

Compensatory strategies of dysphagia after anterior cervical spinal surgery: A case report.
Dysphagia after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) is a common postoperative complication. However, information regarding rehabilitation strategies for postoperative dysphagia is limited. Herein, we report a compensatory strategy for treating dysphagia after ACDF. ⋯ Consequently, swallowing function post-ACDF surgery must be assessed; if unilateral dysphagia is detected, compensatory techniques may prove beneficial. This case study showed that, based on the objective findings of the VFSS, an effective swallowing compensation strategy can be established and applied to patients with postoperative dysphagia.

PTGS2 as target of compound Huangbai liquid in the nursing of pressure ulcer.
Pressure ulcer refers to ulceration and necrosis caused by local skin and cell tissues being compressed for a long time, continuous ischemia, hypoxia, and malnutrition. However, role of prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2) in the management of pressure ulcers in with compound Huangbai liquid is still unclear. ⋯ PTGS2 may be a target for treatment of pressure ulcers with compound Huangbai liquid, providing a new direction for its treatment.

Osteoporosis (OP) constitutes a notable public health concern that significantly impacts the skeletal health of the global aging population. Its prevalence is steadily escalating, yet the intricacies of its diagnosis and treatment remain challenging. Recent investigations have illuminated a profound interlink between gut microbiota (GM) and bone metabolism, thereby opening new avenues for probing the causal relationship between GM and OP. ⋯ Additionally, 21 other gut microbial species exhibited a positive correlation with OP, potentially accentuating its proclivity and progression. Subsequent to rigorous scrutiny via heterogeneity and sensitivity analyses, these findings corroborate the causal nexus between GM and OP. Facilitated by MR, this study successfully elucidates the causal underpinning binding GM and OP, thereby endowing invaluable insights for deeper exploration into the pivotal role of GM in the pathogenesis of OP.

Psoriasis (PS) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with a long course and tendency to recur, the pathogenesis of which is not fully understood. This article aims to identify the key differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and microRNA (miRNAs) of PS, construct the core miRNA-mRNA regulatory network, and investigate the underlying molecular mechanism through integrated bioinformatics approaches. Two gene expression profile datasets and 2 miRNA expression profile datasets were downloaded from the gene expression omnibus (GEO) database and analyzed by GEO2R. ⋯ QRT-PCR revealed significant differences in miRNA and gene expression between inflammatory and normal states. In this study, the miRNA-mRNA core regulator pairs hsa-miR-146a-5p, hsa-miR-17-5p, hsa-miR-106a-5p, hsa-miR-18a-5p, CDK1, CCNA2, CCNB1, MAD2L1, RRM2, and CCNB2 may be involved in the course of PS. This study provides new insights to discover new potential targets and biomarkers to further investigate the molecular mechanism of PS.
