Evaluation of visual and optical quality following phacoemulsification cataract surgery with diffractive multifocal intraocular lens implantation: An observational study.
The assessment of patient satisfaction following cataract surgery is heavily reliant on the evaluation of visual quality, specifically after the placement of diffractive multifocal intraocular lenses (MIOLs) under varying pupil conditions. The objective of this study was to examine the visual and optical clarity following cataract phacoemulsification and the use of Tecnis ZMB00 MIOL for implantation. The study involved 116 individuals (135 eyes) who received cataract phacoemulsification and underwent Tecnis ZMB00 MIOL implantation. ⋯ The combination of cataract phacoemulsification and Tecnis ZMB00 MIOL implantation yielded favorable visual acuity at various distances for patients. Furthermore, enhancements in the measurements of scattered light, higher-order aberrations, and modulation transfer function values were noted 3 months after the surgical procedure, specifically under the condition of a 5 mm pupil. These findings suggest an increase in visual clarity and night vision to a certain degree.

As a common treatment for rheumatoid arthritis (RA), the adverse reactions of TNF-α inhibitors (TNFis) in practical application have garnered attention. This study aims to investigate the adverse drug events (ADEs) associated with TNFi in RA patients as reported in the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System, to offer insights for clinical use. Cases related to RA and primarily involving TNFi were extracted from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System database and compared by gender stratification. ⋯ Although the aforementioned 5 TNFis share common ADEs such as herpes zoster, clinicians must exercise caution when selecting specific medications, especially for RA patients concurrently suffering from malignancies. The analysis indicates that infliximab is associated with 60 unique positive ADEs, including Hodgkin's disease, metastatic neoplasm, and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma; therefore, these patients should use infliximab with greater caution. Similarly, certolizumab should be used with increased caution in pregnant and postpartum women.

In recent years, the prevalence of asthma has gradually increased and the number of asthmatics worldwide has reached 358 million, which has caused huge economic loss. Airway inflammation is an important feature of asthma, and international research in this field has a high degree of heat. Therefore, this paper uses the bibliometric method to systematically review and visualize the literature in this field, aiming to provide some reference value for follow-up related research. ⋯ This study systematically reveals the state of the literature in the field of airway inflammation in asthma over the past 20 years. The exploration of inflammatory cell components, pathway molecules and biological agents are research hotspots in this field and should be further studied.

The aim of this study is to screen the differentially expressed genes and genes with alternative splicing in PPIA overexpressing cells by transcriptome sequencing. Transcriptome sequencing was performed to identify differentially expressed genes and genes with altered alternative splicing in PPIA overexpressing cells and results were validated by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. The biological function and pathways of those genes were further explored through Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses. ⋯ Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses showed that the 157 upregulated genes were mainly enriched in gastric acid secretion, Mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathway, etc, and the 171 downregulated genes were mainly enriched in transcriptional misregulation in cancer, Tumor necrosis factor signaling pathway, etc. The overexpression of PPIA in human umbilical vein endothelial cells causes changes in the expression of downstream genes and induces alternative splicing in multiple genes. PPIA alters the expression or the alternative splicing pattern of downstream genes, leading to pathogenesis of vascular endothelial injury by high glucose mediated through CyPA.

Prognostic analysis of anoikis-related genes in bladder cancer: An observational study.
Anoikis is proved to play a crucial role in the development of cancers. However, the impact of anoikis on the prognosis of bladder cancer (BLCA) is currently unknown. Thus, this study aimed to find potential effect of anoikis in BLCA. ⋯ The IC50 of 56 drugs showed significant differences between 2 risk groups, such as imatinib, docetaxel, and dasatinib. At last, the results of real time quantitative-polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) demonstrated that the expression trend of CALR, HGF, and INHBB was consistent with the result obtained previously based on public databases. Taken together, this study identified 6 anoikis-related characteristic genes (CALR, FASN, CSPG4, HGF, INHBB, SATB1) for the prognosis of BLCA patients, providing a scientific reference for further research on BLCA.
