Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a significant public health issue, often resulting from traffic accidents and falls, leading to a wide spectrum of outcomes from mild concussions to severe brain damage. The neurorehabilitation of TBI focuses on enhancing recovery and improving quality of life. Zolpidem, traditionally used for short-term management of insomnia, has shown potential in improving cognitive functions and language in TBI patients. Advances in neuroimaging techniques, such as functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), have facilitated the exploration of the effects of therapeutic interventions on brain activity and functional connectivity in TBI patients. ⋯ This case study highlights the potential of zolpidem, a medication traditionally used for insomnia, in enhancing cognitive and verbal functions in a patient with TBI, suggesting a potential therapeutic role for zolpidem in neurorehabilitation, supported by changes in brain activity and connectivity observed through fNIRS. However, further investigation is warranted to validate these findings and elucidate zolpidem's long-term effects on cognitive and functional outcomes in TBI patients.

Endoscopic injection of lauromacrogol foam sclerotherapy for rectal cavernous hemangioma: A case report.
Rectal cavernous hemangioma is a rare, benign vascular disease that seldom causes lower gastrointestinal bleeding, characterized by a high rate of misdiagnosis and missed diagnoses. Surgical treatment is considered to be relatively effective; however, it is accompanied by certain employed in the treatment of superficial hemangioma, boasting the advantages of minimally invasive surgery, including safety, effectiveness, reduced trauma, and rapid recovery. However, there is a lack of literature regarding the application of foam sclerosing agents for gastrointestinal hemangiomas. ⋯ Our findings indicate that endoscopic injection of a lauromacrogol foam sclerosing agent is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive treatment option for gastrointestinal cavernous hemangiomas.

Celiac trunk aortic dissection induced by bevacizumab therapy for rectal cancer: A case report.
Bevacizumab (Bev) is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets vascular endothelial growth factor A and is primarily used for the treatment of various solid tumors. Aortic dissection (AD) is a severe vascular disease caused by the tearing of the intimal layer of the aorta or bleeding within the aortic wall, resulting in the separation of different layers of the aortic wall. However, the pathogenesis is not fully understood. Some studies have suggested that Bev treatment is associated with the occurrence of AD. ⋯ There may be a connection between Bev and elevated blood pressure as well as celiac trunk AD.

Studies have shown that some inflammatory markers can predict the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and affect the structure and function of the heart. However, a causal relationship between inflammatory markers and the cardiac structure and function has not yet been established. Thus, we conducted a 2-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study to explore the potential causal relationship between inflammatory markers and prognostically-related left ventricular (LV) parameters. ⋯ Sensitivity analyses confirmed the robustness of the results. Two-sample MR analysis revealed a causal association between increased CRP level and decreased LV mass, whereas IL-6 and MPO levels did not influence the LV parameters. However, further research is required to validate our findings.

This study aimed to explore the clinical effectiveness of nursing methods that incorporate health belief models on the self-care practices of maintenance hemodialysis patients. The objective was to enhance patients' health beliefs, strengthen their healthy behaviors and habits, improve their unhealthy daily behaviors, and provide robust theoretical and practical foundations for future nursing practices in this area. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 150 hemodialysis patients from our hospital, from January 2019 to February 2023. ⋯ Data collection tools included a general information questionnaire and a self-care ability scale, and clinical effectiveness was measured through specific indicators such as parathyroid hormone, blood phosphorus, urea, potassium, calcium, and IWGR%. Post-intervention, the experimental group demonstrated significant improvements in self-care capabilities across various dimensions and most clinical indicators compared to the control group, with the exception of parathyroid hormone and blood urea levels. The study concludes that integrating health belief models into nursing practices significantly enhances the self-care abilities of maintenance hemodialysis patients, improves several clinical parameters, and holds promise for fostering better patient outcomes and guiding future clinical nursing practices.
